Exclamation Upcoming Pixar Films

The Good Dinosaur – This Pixar comedy is from director Bob Peterson, co-director Peter Sohn and producer John Walker. According to Pixar, it’s about what would happen “if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?” It will be released in the U.S. on May 30, 2014.

Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind — From Disney-Pixar’s announcement: “Pixar takes audiences on incredible journeys into extraordinary worlds: from the darkest depths of the ocean to the top of the tepui mountains in South America; from the fictional metropolis of Monstropolis to a futuristic fantasy of outer space. From director Pete Docter (“Up,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and producer Jonas Rivera (“Up”), the inventive new film will take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind.” The film is slated for release June 19, 2015.

Untitled Pixar Movie About Dia De Los Muertos — Per Disney-Pixar: “From director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson, the filmmaking team behind the Academy Award-winning Toy Story 3, comes a wholly original Pixar Animation Studios film that delves into the vibrant holiday of Día de los Muertos. No release date yet.

Did they not learn from College Road Trip that nobody wants to see a PG movie about college. Crank it up to R and lets see Sully rail a P**sy Monster.

I'm sure there will be an unrated Blu-Ray edition.

After Brave I was worried that Disney would start forcing its influence on Pixar. But a movie that takes place inside someone's mind? That idea is pure Pixar.

The Good Dinosaur also sounds cool. And a movie about Dia de los Muertos? Even better.

The concept art for the Dia de los Muertos one looks like a Google Doodle. I can't seen the word Google though

I think Pixar is going to get back on track after the lukewarm Cars 2 and Brave.

Following a rumor that originated earlier this week at Blue Sky Disney, The LA Times has now confirmed that Up co-helmer Bob Peterson has been removed as director of the upcoming The Good Dinosaur. A replacement has yet to be named, but Disney•Pixar says that the project will still meet its May 30, 2014 release date.

"All directors get really deep in their films," says Pixar Animation Studios president Ed Catmull. "Sometimes you just need a different perspective to get the idea out. Sometimes directors... are so deeply embedded in their ideas it actually takes someone else to finish it up. I would go so far as to argue that a lot of live-action films would be better off with that same process."

The Good Dinosaur is set to feature the voice talents of Lucas Neff, John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader and Neil Patrick Harris. The storyline asks, "What would have happened if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?"

Peterson, who is also well-known for his Pixar voicework, starring as both Dug and Alpha in Up and as Roz in Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University, will still be working at the studio and is said to have another directing project already in the works.

I wonder what really happened. But you got to hand it to Pixar more making the big decisions and to always look out for the quality of the movie. Was it Toy Story 2 that was in danger of being awful and Lassater made them start over?

I believe so.

This one is my most anticipated Pixar movie outside of the Toy Story franchise. Hopefully they've taken inspiration from The Land Before Time.
