I'm seriously in love with Steam right now. I cannot comprehend the amount of great games on sale for practically nothing. I love having the ability to play the best games known to mankind. Awesome. I'm going to have so much hours of gameplay. Hell yes.

So I got a free preview screening of Jack Reacher last night through TIFF. I'll try to post a review some time tonight.

Beside the obvious reason why, I don't know why Cruise was cast as that character. Granted, I haven't read the books, but by description alone, he doesn't fit the bill. Don't you need to be intimidating first?

The previews make Jack Reacher look like a movie version of NCIS, with Agent Gibbs working solo.

Does anyone here actually watch NCIS? What an odd reference to throw out.

That was essentially my biggest issue with the film. It could have been awesome, and I really enjoyed it, but Tom Cruise got in the way of it's real potential. Anyone else in that role would have been a huge improvement.

Isn't Jack Reacher something like 6'2? And Cruise is only, what 5'7 tops?
I'm short and even I'm taller than Tom Cruise, lol.

I'm 5'9" and I always feel better knowing that I will always be taller than Tom Cruise. I don't care if I'm average height -- I still feel like a midget.

Yup, that was one of the major qualms I heard people had with Cruise's casting. And his hight it painfully obvious in this film because Rosamund Pike is a good couple inches taller than him...without heels.

Well to be fair, this whole "end of the world" crap was started by the internet. The Mayans never "predicted" the apocalypse; it was just the end of their calendar--which, as far as I know, does not work the same way as the Julian Calendar. They were advanced and ahead of their time, but they weren't prophets--nor did they ever claim to be.

So I took a really awesome film review class this semester, and I saw Lay the Favorite for the final. Suuuuuch a crap film and we don't even have a review thread for it. What are you doing with your life, Bruce Willis?

Seems odd that the instructor would pick a movie that has been almost universally panned by critics. Even the reviews which ultimately gave the flick a positive review have all pointed out a number of problems. A film of such low quality doesn't sound like enough of a challenge to justify using it as a final exam.

We watched Shaun of the Dead for a film class. There was an essay question about it on the final exam. I nailed it.
Not that it's a crappy movie, I just felt like this was a fun time to bring it up.

I sent an e-mail to The Speaker of the House:
Dear Mr. Speaker, Quit screwing around and start some serious effort at a compromise solution. or something like that I wrote it yesterday

Just found out a friend of mine died of a heart attack this morning. Poor guy wasn't even forty yet! I'm beyond shocked, and I can't begin to imagine what his parents are going through.

Great thread, BTW, I'm new here. Name is David, and I am the Executive Producer of a Film that was just in Theatres.
My Random thought..I have ADD, and I think without it, I wouldn't be able to handle so many things at once. But sometimes I wish I could go learn how to control my brain to take a little break and relax. But it never happens, also causes Insomnia I have had for over 20 years. I guess this is an easy way to Break the Ice and introduce myself. |

But yeah, really bizarre storm. It did turn one of my finals into a take home exam though, so that was pretty cool. |
