Seeing as we have seen Rassilon almost come through the Time-Lock from Gallifrey, The Doctor visiting Skaro (which was also supposedly Time-Locked, and/or destroyed), and Rose Tyler return briefly from Pete's World (an alternate earth) - I don't imagine we've seen the absolute last of Amy and Rory either.

What do you guys think? Worth it or no? I don't own any of the DVDs/BRs yet, so that's why I think it's a decent deal, with a few additional perks.

Not sure about the art cards, I'd probably end up tossing them, but at about $5 something a disc plus a sonic screwdriver - not bad.

I'd do it, but I have already started getting the digital downloads, and always have access to them - plus I can get an 11th Doctor's Screwdriver (to go with my 10th doctor screwdriver) at think geek (I think that's the site)

I've been holding off on purchasing Doctor WHo for two things. One, they have to get cheaper, two, the first 4 seasons need to be rereleased in blu-ray.

Coincedentally, just today I received Season 5 on blu-ray in the mail. It's the first thing from this show that I've owned. It was $20, somehow.

Even if they do eventually release the "first" four seasons of Doctor Who on bluray, it won't have any effect on the picture quality. They were shot in SD. They didn't start shooting in HD until season five.

I've never seen Doctor Who on Blu-Ray. How's the quality? I ask because S5 was more cinematic looking than the previous seasons, and now with Blu-Ray, I'm wondering if it has that documentary-like feel to it or not?

Still old movies look better on Bluray quality... It should be the same for TV Shows if they upconvert to Bluray as well!

Old movies were shot on film, which captures images in HD. Once the studio converts the film to digital, it can be seen in HD at home. Old TV shows can only be converted to HD if they were shot on film. The new Doctor Who was shot on video, which can't be converted to HD. A bluray player will upscale the quality of SD images on DVD, however. The improvement isn't full HD of course, but its pretty good. That improvement is coming from the player though, not the disk format.

Most of the Third Doctor episodes were shot on film, and could theoretically be converted. This would unfortunately be a terrible idea, since they were never intended to be seen in HD. All of the strings and whatnot on the practical FX which were virtually invisible on the low quality TVs of the time would be painfully obvious in HD.

I guess I have yet to really look for the difference in bluray - my laptop has the capability. but after a 50" plasma screen TV, clarity is pretty much there.
