Default Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max 4, titled Mad Max: Fury Road, has been given the green-light. Pre-production on the film will start immediately and filming is scheduled to start next year in Sydney and Outback NSW, Australia.

There’s a few names still rumored for who might portray Max. Charlize Theron was one, though it seems more likely her name is being considered as a co-star. British actor Tom Hardy is another name in the mix, as is Australian actor Sam Worthington. But don’t count out the possibility that Mel Gibson could return. Despite director George Miller having previously said that Mel Gibson was too old, he had this to say:

“It could be Mel, it could be anyone,” Miller said.

Maybe Miller saw the trailer for Gibson’s latest movie, Edge of Darkness, and is reconsidering, although it is more likely he was just throwing it out there. I’m guessing he’s already got his mind set on a new Max and it could very well be Worthington.

The film is said to have a $100M budget and filming is likely to take six months. Six months is a long time by typical filming standards and is a big indicator that Mad Max 4 is going to have a lot of stunt work. Mad Max: Fury Road is shaping up to be one hell of an action film.

Miller is responsible for one of the greatest action movies ever made.. and the first Mad Max is some kind of masterpiece.. I couldn't be more excited for him to return to that universe whether it be with or without Mel. It's now at the top of my Most Anticipated List.

Never got into the Mad Max movies. Seems like there are a lot of apocalyptic movies already coming out. The Road with Viggo and Charlize Theron, Book of Eli with Dennzel are two. maybe they'll be going in a cool new direction with it though. At the very least Mel has to have a cameo.

I'm sorry but I love the Mad Max series but for without Mel it is not Mad Max. If he does not do this I will not see this. If some how he does do it I will be one happy camper.

I would actually be disappointed if he did return to the role because the guy's old and is a much better director than he is an actor. If I were George I'd sit down with Mel and discuss the possibility of Mel directing the sequel to Fury Road.

mel doesn't look like mad max anymore. don't care how you try to rationalize it, he can't be max anymore.

tom hardy would be insane, his portrayal of bronson was awesome.

Default Mad Max Fury Road

I've never noticed that. It could have been the stunt man's helmet. I just fired up Max 1 to take a look at it, and sure enough, it was sitting on top at the right hand side for the viewer.

Maybe it's just me I guess but if Mel is not in it I will not be looking forward to this at all. Not unless I see a trailer and it blows me away.

Was disappointed in the series and I don't think any of them besides Road Warrior took advantage of their interesting concept (especially Thunderdome) but this sounds quite promising.

Thumbs up

Sam Worthington would be cool as Mad Max, but instead of a reboot they could do a sequel, son of MAX Which takes place further in the future.

Worthington sucks as an actor and Tom Hardy is a better it to play Max than Sam would.

He looks good. So from 2009 to now, you still think Hardy matches, Franklin?
