Agreed with everything except that the Rock sucked just as bad as every Michael Bay film sucks. Then again I have never been overly impressed by explosions, bullets and vacuous one-liners so...

I tried my damnedest to watch the Transformers movie but every time I get as far as the dogs breaking the freaking ship anchor chains to chase whatshisname and I cannot stomach any more. The first time I tried watching I was like "Well this is pretty predictable and stupid so far and so help me if there is a scene coming where a big dog breaks a thick tow chain I am turning this crap off...". Then sure enough...

So is everyone obligated to like a certain percentage of crappy films or be insulted by you...or is it just me? Was I wrong in any of my assessments and if so, where and why? You see talking tough from behind your keyboard because people more intelligent than you do not enjoy the same formula crap you do does not constitute a rebuttal.

But to answer your question, yes there are many movies I like. I even like some bad movies(for various reasons). I just do not like mediocrity that cannot be excused because of budget considerations(like Ed Wood's films could be...and they were at least so bad as to be funny. Michale Bay's movies are just bad!).

Florida businessman Marc Schiller survived kidnapping, torture, and attempted murder at the hands of the Sun Gym Gang, portrayed as bumbling antiheroes by Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Anthony Mackie in Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain. He’s less than amused by the flashy, comedic trailers for Paramount’s April 26 pic.
He's right. The real-life story is incredibly disturbing... but I'll wait till I see the movie to fully accuse Michael Bay of anything. Many times the trailers will misrepresent a movie.

Exclamation

http://www.egotastic.com/2013/04/mic...or-armageddon/

Quote:
At last an apology has come for one of the greatest travesties of human history: the movie Armageddon. What makes it more poignant is the fact that it comes from the man most responsible for this abomination, Michael Bay. In an interview with The Miami Herald, Bay finally admitted that Armageddon may be one of the worst films of all time. It really is like a cinematic kick in the ballsack. Bay says:

“I will apologize for Armageddon, because we had to do the whole movie in 16 weeks. It was a massive undertaking. That was not fair to the movie. I would redo the entire third act if I could. But the studio literally took the movie away from us. It was terrible. My visual effects supervisor had a nervous breakdown, so I had to be in charge of that. I called James Cameron and asked ‘What do you do when you’re doing all the effects yourself?’ But the movie did fine."

Sure, he is shifting the blame to the studios and not to his own complete and total lack of talent, but at least it's something. Some might say that Ed Wood or Uwe Boll are the worst directors of all time. I have to go with Bay. If for nothing else because his films reach a much larger audience than Boll or Wood's craptacular dreck. Michael Bay's films have made billions of dollars. Armageddon alone earned 553,709,788 worldwide. So, am I being unfair? You might say that if a movie can amass that much revenue it's fine because people really seem to enjoy it. But does that make it good? Millions of people worldwide also enjoy heroin and dog fighting and you wouldn't say those things are good, right? Right.

Kudos to you Michael. I know admitting that Armageddon sucked was not easy for you.

even as a kid i was angry at my aunt for paying for armageddon.

remember this neverending, next time you try to argue for a movie based on money alone.

coulda swore you always posit box office returns as proof that a movie was clearly worth watching.
