So good that I can barely remember a single thing that happened during the whole movie. 'Watchable' is the highest praise I could give it.

Meh. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Felt I'd seen all the special effects before so they didn't wow me. The colony/city landscape was straight up Blade Runner meets The Fifth Element.
But it was mildly fun. Colin Ferrel is hot. Kate Beckinsale is even hotter. 6/10

From the trailers I was thinking Star Wars: Episode II meets Minority Report, but I suppose we're both right.

Meh - I still want to see this. I'd take so-so Sci-Fi action over any Twilight movie any day of the week.

He's not bad. Definitely not the weakest of the acting in the film. Nothing incredible, but I wasn't cringing at any points either.

I seemed to be the only one in the entire theater that noticed that part.

Just got back from seeing this finally. My review may be a little biased because I am a big fan of sci-fi, but I also recognize that when sci-fi is bad, it can be reeeaaallllyyy bad. So, giving my disclaimer of bias, here's what I thought:
One thing I really like about good sci-fi movies is that it sucks you into the world and makes you want to explore/learn more about that particular world. I did feel that in this movie. Sure, it was a little limited, but I thought the apocalyptic approach left all kinds of potential for good story line ideas. I loved the visuals, although obviously there was a ton of green-screen background, I still felt like it was believable on a movie going level. The action was great - although almost exhausting at times. Colin Farell did a great job as did Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel What I really didn't like is that the fun of Total Recall being a guessing game and always having that little question in the back of your mind as to what is real was all stripped away. The director basically tells you right from the opening sequence that the reality is what Farrell experiences after visiting Rekall. It basically took the most important part of the movie and said "you're too stupid as an audience to figure this out, so let me just come right out and tell you". It's kind of like knowing what is wrapped up in that big box sitting under the Christmas tree - there's no surprise and fun is diminished as a result. Also, somehow Kate Beckinsale always seem to have this way of popping up in front of Farrell's character. I always hated the "surprise, I somehow beat you to the door and I'm standing outside waiting for you". Not a huge deal, but kind of unbelievable. Also Beckinsale was given an order by Walter White to take Farrell's character alive. So, for the next hour, she's chasing him, shooting at him and trying to kill him. I kept wondering the whole time why she was trying to kill him when she was just given an order not to. It felt like they needed to keep the adrenaline up, so they just kept with the chase/guns and so forth. Then, at the end, almost as an afterthought, Walter White tells Beckinsale that he'll talk to her about not following that order later. It almost felt like the director had to go back and add that scene just to keep consistency in the film somehow. Just felt sloppy to me. But, even with the flaws, the movie was fun for a sci-fi fan. I would love to see more, but maybe from a director who isn't going to treat the audience like we're too stupid to understand the story. We don't have to go to Wachowski confusion levels, but something that gives us a little bit of guessing throughout - making you want to re-watch it and look for clues (kind of like Inception). Overall, it was a fun sci-fi movie with serious flaws in the story/directing. 7/10

Just got back from this and enjoyed it.
It was pretty intense once the action got started and was one one set piece after another. All of which were very well done, especially when you get to see Kate Beckinsale doing the chasing! I thought Farrell was pretty good as Quaid as he did it his way without trying to be Arnie. The film was very Bourne-esque until Quaid gets to UTB, to the point were the bank scene from Identity was literally ripped off complete with a box that looked exactly the same with a hidden compartment! The use of London looked great for the futuristic UTB city while the colony just looked like china...... If you're a fan of action movies this is well worth the watch. 7/10 |

I didn't think this was a bad movie at all, don't get me wrong arnolds will always hold a place in my heart lol but this really wasn't a bad movie, I enjoyed this movie, alittle darker tone then the other one i felt, the 3 main actors were great, love kate, although I'll take the head bad guy from the first one over this, one other thing that was missing was a michael ironside guy, even though that guy is irreplaceable it'd still be nice to have another baddy. On a side note, the rated R version of live free or die hard I feel puts it at number 2 out of them all. One thing that pisses me off is you can only get the rated R version on dvd not blu-ray
I would rate this movie a 7.5 |

This was better than I thought it would be but still not great by any means and definitely not a patch on the original which is one of my favorite films of all time!
