I have....reservations....

I don't know. Game play looks good but Tomb Raider isn't strictly survival horror. I'm fine with it being part of the action but that's not all it is. I also see the date was pushed back to next year.

I'm going to have to let this marinate.

As I said in the other thread, I liked what I saw in the demo but still am worried about what I didn't see. It's a heavy shift towards combat and I guess it's good they are trying to make it more playable this time around. There graphics, however, look damn near photo-realistic. Regardless of how the game plays, it will be gorgeous to look at.

I think they're trying too hard to sell this game to the shooters/combat junkies rather than the original fanbase. It's great that they want to expand their fanbase, but unless they start showing us some of the original aspects that made Tomb Raider what it was, I'm pretty sure that it'll stick to a heavy action/survival game instead, unfortunately.

It looks like the people behind the game saw how popular the uncharted gamers were, and wanted to pull from that crowd.

To be honest, Im more intersted in this game now, then If it was like the old games. So while this change may lose some folk, it will gain others. It really just depends on if they gain more than they lose.

This article puts me a little more at ease with the direction of the game. But dang Crystal Dynamics, get your act together! Don't drown your seemingly brilliant game in bad PR!

Dude, way ahead of you. I watched the 2 hour IGN conference last night. They played a nearly hour long demo.

The game itself looks beautiful. And while it still looks combat heavy, it looks so much more capable than its been in any other installment (and they also incorpated some stealth, which I love). It's gonna get Uncharted comparisons, ironically enough, and I still dont see many puzzles, but I like Luddington's take on young Lara so far.

I love how people like my brother keeps comparing it to Uncharted... going as far as to call Lara a female Drake. It's insane. Someone needs to set these people straight. I always find myself wanting to give them a history lesson on gaming.

Hindsight only seems to extend back about 10 years or so. :/

That is where adventure/shooters are going though. Tomb Raider pioneered it, Uncharted advanced it. And now we come full circle. I'll just gently remind people who came first. :p

You had a chance to set up a sex joke and you didn't? You under the weather?

Looks great. It does remind me a little of Resident Evil 4 though, just hopefully there are more puzzles. The Resident Evil franchise hasn't been the same since they changed the style.

That's what made Tomb Raider so awesome, the puzzles. I hope they keep that aspect around...

Who says it wasn't a sex joke? The chicken came first, then rolled over and had a cigarette. Geez...do I have to explain everything to you?

Picked up my pre-order just a little while ago. Tonight when I get home I'll try it out. Still packing though and I don't want to jump into it too much because I know I'll become addicted if I play too long.

Initial feelings....gameplay waaaaaaaaaay different than any other TR game. More akin to Residental Evil (which I've actually played very little of). Creative use of controls (in a good way), the combat is fairly unforgiving but engaging (I'm playing on Hard). The environmental challenges are pretty rewarding but I hope there more structural puzzles soon. It's not Tomb Raider without them. Right now it's been a lot of running, getting the **** beat out of you and surviving. Oh and on that note, the death scenes are bloody brutal!

The graphics are beautiful. Square Enix know how to craft scenery. Lara's movements are pretty fluid, though she's a little wonky when she jumps. And, so far, I like Camilla Luddington, even if she gets a little breathy at times. But it does feel like Lara truly trying to find her way through the situation but with a sense of inexperience and naivety.

So far so good.

I like the no exagerated body parts and all, much more realistic ... and the graphics!
