I managed to watch all the episodes of this latest season on Netflix in about 2 days. If CBS wasn't so backwards, and had their shows online better or Hulu, I would even try to get current with this season.
I assume this season isn't the last though? I wish it was. Show is good, but it needs to end.

I am now all caught up.
I really hate how they bankrupt all of Ted's relationships because of Robin, and it turns out he isn't going to end up with her. It's total bull****, and I feel sorry for him, and I feel really sorry for Victoria - I really liked her. I will say this. when they do the flash forward (in the episode where they watched the Star Wars trilogy every three years) and show Ted with a baby and him saying "I hope none of this changes," I noticed he wasn't wearing a wedding ring.

I never went through my reasons on why it's Victoria, have I? (Or why I thought it was before Ted basically said it wasn't)
My number 1 reason on why it should be at least considered is that he met her in episodes 12 and 13 of the first season (which is a two-parter). As you may know, first seasons of shows are often only 13 episodes at first and if it's successful they order the back 9 and make it 22 episodes (or close to that). Had this show not been successful, Victoria would have been the mother. He met her in episode 12 and fell for her in the "series finale". Of course this doesn't mean she has to be the mother 7 seasons later, but they were clearly OK with it early on. Reason #2, this show has maaaany similarities to Friends (what show doesn't?) And Victoria keeps popping up like the Rachel and Ross relationship did. Then again, Ross and Robin are a better comparison. But its too bad that when you look at the evidence, there doesn't seem to be a single person on the planet that can be her without conflict. So either it's going to be a stranger, or they ****ed up and the ending is going to be a convoluted mess based completely around double meanings and semantics.

I just finished the latest episode a few minutes ago and they did another flash-forward with Ted and a baby - this time there was definitely a ring.
I'm still rooting for Victoria. Also, I am heavily creeped out by this Lily sexually attracted to Robin subplot.

JBond, you were right. The show does take a nose dive. I finished season 7 and started watching season 8, which I've been recording. They really need to stop with the whole Robin/Victoria stuff. We know they're not the mother. And if they are, it would make no sense whatsoever.

Last episode I saw was when Victoria dumped Ted because he wouldn't befriend Robin. You know... that same old plotline. It seems like the show has not advanced at all since Jennifer Morrison.

Contractually, it is the last one, but CBS wants a 9th and are willing to pay big bucks for it. Whether or not it happens, we'll find out pretty soon. They're currently in negotiations. But I don't see the show going beyond a 9th season. Jason Segel, because of his Apatow/Muppets success, wants to desperately leave the show. If the show ends now or next year is literally up to him.

I'm finally caught up. Well..... sort of. Apparently, I forgot to record the stamp tramp episode. But anyway, yeah, season 8 is bad. Shark jumping season for sure. There's just no progress going on.

Today's episode was actually OK. There was a joke that gave me a laugh better than probably any other in this season.

The writers deserve a pad on the back. Congrats, guys. You FINALLY got one right. Oh, and to me, the funniest line was, "we're family..... with benefits." LOL. Chris Elliot is a great addition to the cast. And so is Patrice.

And I agree about their Marshall predictions. I remember being excited last season or so when they talked about how he'd save the world one day. So, uh, what happened to that?
