Its a sad world we live in when bad looking two face by Tommy Lee Jones is referenced as being better then Nolans masterpieces that is the Nolan Batman Trilogy.

TDKR is a better film than Batman Forever, but the ending to Forever is more true to the character for a lot of us.

Batman Forever...better than TDKR? No, not even close. Even though the ending of Forever may be closer to Batman's character, the rest of the movie is terrible.
TDKR is far from perfect. Take a look at my review, I was not kind. But the movie is still very, very enjoyable and like Knerys and Jibbs said earlier, the ending is at the very least cathartic (in spite of the cheese). Last edited by Justin; 12-08-2012 at 10:12 AM. |

The ending grew on me the more I thought about it. I DO love Batman, and he is my favorite superhero, but I still don't hold him as near and dear as Masterchief, PG Cooper and Neverending do. So, I'm more willing to see something like this ending happen, as long as it fit with how Bruce was portrayed before it. Which it did, along with remaining consistent with Nolan's central idea behind Batman.

I finally watched this movie for a second time and...I still really like it. Most of the plot hole complaints I think are either unfounded or not that big of a deal.
It helps to be a huge fan of classic James Bond.

Batman & Robin is a terrible movie, but it does work as entertainment for younger children. I'm sure MasterChief loved it when he was 5-years-old. Since Chris Nolan has resurrected the franchise, there's really no reason whatsoever to be angry about the film anymore. I think we can all finally forgive Joel Schumacher. I mean... wasn't that the entire theme of Spider-Man 3? Forgiveness:

Don't feed the dark side, Wyldstaar. It's time for peace.

Spiderman 3 and TDKR are similarly dissapointing, yet spidey 2 and TDK were both great. Its a curse that will never be broken.

No curse, just difficult to carry the same greatness over the span of three films.

If you need to blame anyone then blame Warner Bros. They're the ones to didn't like how Batman Returns turned out and look where that got them.

Batman Forever was successful at the time. Hatred for that movie didn't exist till Batman & Robin when the angry villagers were chasing Joel Schumacher. It's fanboy syndrome. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies were beloved till Spidey 3. Now the entire trilogy is childish and silly. The new "dark one" is the good one. Tim Burton's Batman movies were the gold standard but then Chris Nolan came along and now they're too fantastical and lack the gritty realism. And the list goes on and on.....

I did have toys for Batman Forever/Batman & Robin, also enjoyed my Dad's toys from the Batman '89 film. I cannot deny that. I did enjoy Batman Forever a bit more than Batman & Robin growing up. Then grew distant when I was probably 10 for obvious reasons.
I do agree with Neverending on the constant trend that 'new is better'. Seems to be the case with the Spider-Man film line. Now people are saying Spider-Man 2 is 'terrible'? What!?

They have a Batman exhibit at the Staples center right now (where the Lakers play). Costumes, Batmobiles, artwork, etc. I went today, it was great, I'll see about throwing photos up sometime.
