As someone who has only seen the newest film, I will say I'm looking forward to this. You can call me a noob or sheep or whatever you choice, but I still think this looks cool.

And I do plan on visiting the original Star Trek films eventually.

I'll refrain from calling you anything. Instead, I'll simply recommend that when it comes to Star Trek movies, you should skip Star Trek: The Motion Picture and go straight to ST: The Wrath of Khan. It's not that ST:TMP is a bad movie, but it's not a good way to start out for someone unfamiliar with Classic Star Trek. It has a fine story, but it's a tale that was meant to be told in 45 minutes of television that the studio stretched out into 2 hours of movie.

Outside of TNG, my all-time favorite show was Voyager. That's not to say I wasn't completely addicted to DS9 from start to finish, because I totally was.

I feel like Gene Roddenberry was experimenting what Star Trek could... It wasn't til the movies and TNG that he really hit a high note of what he truly wanted from the show!

Roddenberry didn't actually work on the movies. He was fired after the first movie "disappointed" at the box office. I think Harv Bennett was the guy in charge of the sequels.

I grew up with TNG, but while the TOS is a bit dated in appearance, it had some great writing. Plus the others wouldn't exist without it. It's relevance is secure.

But it's true. It paved the way for not just TNG, DS9, Voyager, etc. but countless other science fictions shows that followed.

That's not to say something else couldn't have, but it wouldn't have left us with Picard or Sisko or the talents of Michael D. Moore and Ira Steven Berh amoung others. And I'm grateful for that.

The best thing about DS9 was quark. I couldn't get enough of him.

TNG was a great series.

I love the fact that they put the new 9 min clip wit The Hobbit. No brainer really.

I too can't wait for the new movie. I do hope that it lives up to the 1st movie.
