This is JJ Abrams, here! It's what he wants, it's what he lives for. People going crazy with questions over a 1-minute "Announcement" teaser that isn't even the "Full" teaser! I can't even begin to show interest or raise questions yet. There just isn't any real footage worth detailing and discussing yet. JJ Abrams is just trying to mind**** us like he always does. I always give in too, but no more. This time I'll wait until there's more to discuss and some solid topics to discuss.

First, if you're a fan, you get the names right. Especially if they're short. Second, I would feel better (maybe even happy) if it was Gary Mitchell. But they are shoving it hard like its Khan. In short, I don't know.

On one hand, Khan conquering Earth makes perfect sense since that was his backstory in the television series. On the other hand, he didn't have special abilities like we see in the trailer. So, that's why people suspect Gary Mitchell. My guess is... it's neither. Abrams probably combined both characters to create a new one.

My guess is it WAS Khan, but they changed it as much as they could to appease the growing wrath of the nerds, but not so much that they had to come up with something original.

Also, I thought Khan did have super abilities? Wasn't he a work of genetic engineering or something?

He was "superhuman" but I don't remember him doing anything special. I think he was just highly intelligent.

It was selective breeding. Superior strength and intellect but not superhero type levels. Just superior genetics.

Mitchell, however became a god. Soooo....it's anyone's guess.

The episode is called, Where No Man Has Gone Before. It was the second pilot for Star Trek. Aside from the different uniforms, the character of Bones McCoy wasn't the ship's doctor.
