My oldest brother had all the Beatles records and the Monkeys - I listened to a lot of those too before I was 9.
And I had a really good music teacher from first grade up to about my junior year in high school - I can remember the class singing stuff like Tom Dooley with him playing the guitar. I also started learning the coronet when I was in 5th grade.

I've loved this song since I was a little kid. Still do. My father was a complete and total jerk, listened to basically country, but my mom had really good/quirky/eclectic taste in music. No wonder I'm so close to my damn mom, haha.
