I purchased my tickets last week. 12/14/2012 11:00 am Imax 3D, I did not notice anything about FPM or whatever. I can't wait for the Reviews to stat coming in. Steven Colbert will be having a Hobbit All this week. Different Cast members each day of the Week. I think that he is the Biggest Tolkien GEEK there is Hollywood Hell he even speaks elfish. Is there a date for a US Premiere or will there be one?

Eh, whatever--I'll still see all three movies. I doubt PJ will **** it up. I may not like every aesthetic choice he's made, but if the film can stand alone without all of the 'cosmetics', then it shouldn't matter.
And yeah, Colbert's Tolkien Week (or whatever) is pretty cool. Last edited by Justin; 12-02-2012 at 10:48 PM. |

I can't imagine LOTR being one movie. Then again, if they had used those giant birds, it probably could have been.

Uh, OK it's 71% now. It seems like people are complaining about two things 1) Length and 2) 48FPS. Be warned.

"If you're willing to just go with it, An Unexpected Journey is a competent ride, but as a whole it lacks purpose, giving the impression of a television program in its later seasons still chugging along while full aware that it has peaked. Needless to say, "Hobbit" fans will find plenty to soak in; others may get the feeling of being bludgeoned by deja vu."
this is exactly as i expected. scores are dropping. 71 on rotten is pretty bad.

Its to not be unexpected for Part 1 was never gonna be a big as likely the end movie or middle. Critics smashing this is not a surprise because they have been on smash mode all year long. I think the movie will be big when fans of the movies and not the books flock to this.
No way can this be as bad as Phantom Menace or as bad as people are complaining about. Then again you guys have been bashing this movie for months. I apologize About being grump with the fellow CS posters Its just all I hear about is the 3D and no one is talking about the movie its self . The acting and so on. I am sure people are seeing this in regular 3D and 2D so the growning likely will change. Last edited by DarthVader 2004; 12-04-2012 at 05:47 PM. |

I will probably still end up enjoying it. What I don't get, though, is what happened to the editors of the previous films. Five producers and one editor (PJ)? Where were the producers to keep him in check?

& Almost everyone is comparing the story to RINGS. I don't think that most of the actually read The Hobbit. It is Middle Earth yes but, TH is a much light story that is more comical in nature. Some of the critics don't seem to get that. RINGS set a standard that will be hard to repeat or reach. However, I know that these 3 movies will be great. PJ hasn't let me down yet( well, actually I did not care for Lovely Bones, but it was the story itself that I did not care for. Had nothing to do with the movie much). I think that the fans will love these movies regardless. We have been waiting over a decade for them. This movie will a Hit. Fans will see this movie in different formats just to compare the looks of the movie. I myself will see it 1st in Imax & then try the 2d format. I know that I am pushing it here but, I can't wait to see the Dragon & the battle of the 5 armies. Will The Hobbit get a BP nomination I don't know( I think that PJ & middle earth Loaded up back in 2004) however they did make the short list for the technical stuff. It is early with the review still & I am waiting on the Heavy Hitter still to come. I love the 6 additional clips on EW. Smegol is amazing as usual to bad that he has such a small part in the book and movie. I can't help it but I love the little guy.

Em yeah it does.
You can have a great story, but if the actors don't do their job then you end up with a crap movie.

Regardless of the movie itself, I'm really curious how the 48 fps will turn out since James Cameron is thinking about using this in the next Avatar installments. Could start a trend, or could kill the idea completely if met with too much spite.
