They could tone the original suit down and look ok - he was a freak.
I think Electro is pretty badass - there is a lot you can do with electricity if you think about it.

I only just found out that Orci and Kurtzman are the writers on this movie. So much for any improvements on this sequel.

The kid from Chronicle has been cast as Harry Osborn. No shock there since he was the fan favorite.

Jamie Foxx being cast as Electro has to be one of the most random casting choices in recent memory

He's a good actor, so I'm not complaining.

Pretty happy about the casting choices thus far.

Maybe I'm too oldschool but I have no idea how Jamie Foxx is going to pull off Electro. Guess I'm behind the times with the newer, Ultimates, version of the character. There has to another villain waiting in the shadows, right???

Guess I was right about another villain. Can Giamatti really be the Rhino???

If this rumor is true, it will pretty much ruin the movie for me. I don't mind a secondary villain, especially one like Rhino, who generally just serves as hired muscle for someone else. The Rhino is supposed to be a huge, dumb guy in an indestructable costume. If they want to hire Paul Giamatti as Doctor Octopus, fine. He'd be perfect for that. The Rhino, though? Absolutely not.

I was all cool with Foxx playing Electro, but Giamatti in talks to play The Rhino is truly WTF news. The Rhino is a huge buff dude. Also, it seems odd that Giamatti idolized the character so much - the Rhino is mostly known for being a whipping boy who got his butt kicked by stronger characters. A dumb thug in every sense.

Sony own Spider-Man so he'll never be in The Avengers movies. What about Miles Morales from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics? Could Marvel exploit Ultimate Spider-Man to get round copy right law or would that just piss people off? Who owns the screen rights for Miles Morales?

Paul Giamatti is such a weird choice, but I'm all for it.

I'm assuming the Rhino will be more than just a blunt force. Considering the casting choice, it wouldn't surprise me to see a Tim Burton-style "freak" of science.

Marvel Studios could use a character named Miles Morales, but Miles can't be known as Spider-Man in a movie, or wear a costume which is clearly meant to be a variation on the Spider-Man tights.

The movie licenses owned by Fox and Sony encompass not only the lead characters of the franchise, but all ancillary characters as well. For Spidey, that meant his family, his various school friends and girlfriends, his villains except for Kingpin (who was part of the Daredevil license) and everyone at the Daily Bugle except for Ben Urich (who was part of the Daredevil license).

And yes, even if it were possible for Marvel Studio to use Ultimate Spider-Man, it would just piss people off.

I really do wish that Sony and Marvel could work something out and include Spider-man in the avengers films, something about Spider-man not being in any Avengers films doesn't feel right.

Wasn't Oscorp going to be in The Avengers but it wasn't finished in time? Or was it Stark Tower that was going to be in The Amazing Spider-Man?

Oscorp was going to be in The Avengers, yes. The negotiations to do so took so long that there wasn't time to put it in the finished film.

I don't think Marvel Studios has much interest in putting Spider-Man into an Avengers movie. The team line-up they've gone with is a more traditional one from the 20th Century. Spider-Man didn't become a member of the team until recently, and at that point the team had a very different line-up.

It would however have been fun to have a brief scene featuring some of the other New York superheroes fighting the Chitauri. Unfortunately, that would have been too distracting and confusing to a large portion of the audience.

I'm glad he's not involved. An 18-year-old Spider-Man would seem very out of place fighting alongside a handful of adults trying to save the world.

Now that Marvel has the rights to Daredevil again though, I'd like to see him included in one of the Avengers sequels though.

But no one is supposed to know that Spider-Man is an 18-year-old, that's why he's Spider-Man and not Spider-Boy.

Here's a spectacular photo from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. No - wait - it's the costume for Marc Webb's sequel to Amazing Spider-Man.
