Wow why is everyone so harsh about this movie here. I think its easily best looking trailer and movie out since maybe TDKR. This is Jackson not Lucas and I am willing to pay whatever it is to see this final trip to middle earth.

I don't remember the last VHS I bought. But for Christmas 2003, my aunt gave me X2: X-Men United on VHS even though I had bought the DVD like 2 weeks earlier.
EDIT: I remember my last VHS. It was the first Harry Potter.

I don't remember my last VHS. I do remember renting LDs, though. Remember those giant discs? What a crazy invention.

I have Titanic on VHS. That was probably a 1998 release as well. same with Tomorrow Never Dies, but I think I gave that away a long time ago. Though frankly, I never bought many VHSs. I wasn't into film back then and I taped everything from TV.

If I recall correctly, DVD's were ridiculously expensive when they first hit the market. Wasn't a DVD player like almost $200 back then. I remember mine cost like $100 and that was in 2002.

Yeah, probably. I think we waited a few years, even then. I remember our first player came with 10 or so WB DVDs. I could still pick them out of my collection, I bet. Like Phenomenom and Lost in Space.

These are probably my very first DVDs. They're Warner Bros. and they have those early ****ty cases. As you can see, they're a bit weighted towards the mid-90s.
Amadeus (1984) Contact (1997) The Fugitive (1993) Gettysburg (1993) Lethal Weapon (1987) Michael (1996) The Road Warrior (1981) Twister (1996) (I meant "Michael," not "Phenomenon." same thing.)

Twister was the first movie I saw on DVD. My uncle is semi-rich and he got a DVD player, with a set of surround sound speakers, when it first hit the market in the late `90s. For some reason, Twister was the first DVD he bought. So, he invited the family to experience the future of home entertainment.

The first DVD I owned was Spider-Man which I got along with my player. 10 years later, they've held up quite well. When I got a blu-ray player, I gave my sister the DVD player and it's great to still see it working. My VCR didn't last as long if I recall.

My Fifth Element DVD says 1997 on it, it was a very early one for me too. Could have been the first I bought, for all I know, but I don't remember.

What the hell, I'll join in;
My last VHS was Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. I remember because I got the special edition box set. My first DVD was Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. I remember because I'll never forget how stupid I was.

No idea what my first dvd was. I'll have a look through the collection later. Just because one says 1997 on the back doesn't mean you purchased it then though, JIBBS.
