Director Tom Hooper films most of narrative indoors and shoots a lot of scenes far away from the actors showing how alone Albert must have felt in a very big world that must have been very demanding of the person. This is a small movie on a large scale with a very tight script. This is a powerful film that deals with something that anyone can understand, that speech is the most powerful tool one has.

That review was so vague, you can tell he didn't watch it.

That might be the kind of thing you wanna clarify in a Review Thread.

You went from a perfect rating (you said 4 out of 4) to disliking the film in less than 2 years. I'm curious what's gonna happen when you re-watch John Carter.

It's quickly turning into a frontrunner for Best Picture, no surprise there.

I'm definitely looking forward to that.

It IS the frontrunner. The Hobbit could steal its thunder once Academy members watch it... or MAYBE even Django Unchained. But... this looks like the safest choice right now. The Bin Laden movie could have taken the price, but I heard some people got upset because it didn't acknowledge the Obama administration.

If tradition is any indication here (and it usually is), then this will most likely win if, as you said, nothing else swoops in and steals the spotlight. The Academy sure loves their musicals, and this is one that has big production values to boot, which is surprising coming from Tom Hooper.

I just hope it lives up to the hype.

They had two screenings for members this month, one in New York and the other in Los Angeles. In both, the members loved it. It stole the thunder from Argo, which was the frontrunner for like two months. Right now, it seems to be the favorite.

I think it's gonna either be Lincoln or Zero Dark Thirty, with Les Mis as a possible "upset."

Anyway, this is now my 2nd most anticipated release for the remainder of the year, behind Django Unchained.

I can't get too excited for this. I'm hoping it'll surprise me, but we'll see.
