More than a decade after Boy Meets World ended its seven-season run on ABC, its sibling the Disney Channel is eying a sequel series. The channel has closed a deal with Boy Meets World co-creator/executive produced Michael Jacobs for the project, titled Girl Meets World, which is in early stages of development. It centers on the preteen daughter of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel), who married on the original series, and tells the story from her point of view. According to TVLine, which broke the news, Disney Channel is trying to get Savage and Fishel to reprise their roles.

Rebooting old series by focusing on the offspring of characters from the original show has become popular recently with TNT’s Dallas and two comedies in development for next season, CBS’ Beverly Hills Cop, centered on the son of Alex Foley, and The Brady Bunch, about the son of Bobby Brady.

You don't have to. You can just watch it on MTV2 or ABC Family. Anyway, I really don't know what to think about this. I really liked the original series and I'm always up for seeing Danielle Fishel/Topanga again on a regular basis but this seems very unnecessary. I mean it could turn out good - if it goes to series - but I have my doubts.

I don't think any station still shows reruns of Boy Meets World in the UK. Not any channel I have anyway.

The original show aired from 1993 to 2000. Beginning with his life as a sixth grader, the series followed Cory through high school, to college and eventually into marriage with longtime love interest, Topanga.

I loved "Boy Meets World" I want to be optimistic... But an idea of a sequel just seems like it won't translate right...

Especially since the original was set in the 90's
