qos ruined the good will casino royale built.

movie sucked. the writing is atrocious, because they take themselves so seriously. i mean die another day has terrible writing thanks to the overkill of puns in their regular conversations, qos took itself so seriously with such a terrible script. writers strike ruined that movie. qos is garbage.

We have Skyfall now so it doesn't really matter. QoS didn't kill the series or put it on life support. Like Doomsday said, it's neither the best or worst. It's mediocre at best.

Which one? I may or may not agree depending. (But then you would have said "really sucks"...)

It's a two hour episode of the show, nothing more, nothing less.

I wish it were that simple. The movie is part of the show's Alien Mythology but it also TRIES to be an introduction for newcomers. It fails at both. The movie is, well, a movie so it just doesn't flow well with the show's continuity. How can you go from a movie back into TV Budget Land? It's just... weird. And the movie has too much baggage for outsiders, so why did they even bother?

The movie would have worked if it had captured the show's spirit but had been something separate. I know that's what "I Want to Believe" TRIED to do, but if you're making an X-Files movie it has to center on aliens.

There's something familiar about that, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

DaVinci Code minus Religion. Yeah... it's good. The sequel sucked though.

The sequel took everything that worked in the first and drove it into the ground. After that one, I think people had enough National Treasure, hence why the planned 3rd installment was seemingly cancelled.

I haven't seen the sequel in a while but I remember liking that too...

Never saw Davinci Code.

I just remember the sequel crossing the line. It was WAY too ridiculous for its own good. I remember watching the scene where Nick Cage kidnaps the President and thinking, "wow! That's the easiest kidnapping of a President I have ever seen."

You probably did. I saw it in theaters with a full auditorium and I was shocked by how well the audience responded to it. They loved it. The sequel was like the biggest hit of holiday 2007.

I admit, I like the sequel as well BECAUSE it's so way over-the-top, but I can acknowledge how utterly ridiculous it all is. I had the same reaction to the President's kidnapping when I saw the movie opening night. I might've even laughed at how easy it was for them to pull off.

*shrug* I like a lot of those tongue-in-cheek adventure movies. Guilty pleasure.

Nick Cage is surprisingly restrained in the National Treasure movies.
