Sam Raimi is too campy and I think Star Wars needs a dose of serious directing after what Lucas did to the prequels.

LOL. Star Wars has always been campy. It's based on 1930's and `40s movie serials. If anything, the Prequels were too serious. Remember the goofy Yoda from Empire who messed with Luke when he arrived at that friggin swamp? Where was he in the Prequels?

Tron was shot and directed quite well. I'm all for someone like him being behind the camera.

I think the same can be applied to Zack Snyder his camera work is great as long as he has a good script to back it up

I am hearing they will be announcing a director any day really. Also casting should be interesting after we find out the plan for the original actors.

I wonder if many directors are just to affraid to take on the Star Wars movies. If ask me any person would be a step up because while I liked all the Prequels well enough I also feel they could have been better and as great a visonary as Lucas is. He however is not a very good director. Not every writer can be a great Director.

I mean no disrespect for George is a visonary and he created a world of rich unforgettable characters but many were calling for his head after the prequel films. My opinion is that a new director might have given more to the prequels and maybe these new films will be what we have been waiting for.

More writers seems like a Disney style. They always liked to have a writing team. Pirates was an example of that. Wouldn't be surprised if they added Stuart Beattie as well because he was the guy who wrote most of the good parts of Pirates 1

Here's some great news!

Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg have closed deals to write installments of the new Star Wars trilogy, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The pair will write either Episode VIII or Episode IX -- their exact division of responsibilities is yet to be determined -- and also will come aboard to produce the films. (Full article below)
