The Flintstones, believe it or not, was a Primetime show from 1960-66. It opened the door for Simpsons, Family Guy, and all these other Primetime cartoons. So yes, MacFarlane is definitely making it for grown-ups since... it always was.

Times have changed since the 60's. Unless they have Pebbles as a wisecracking kid like Stewie, Rallo or Rodger it'll be weird. I really don't see how they can make The Flintstones an all ages cartoon and make people watch it when they don't watch other cartoons.

And really, how much did a show in the 60's have anything to do with a show from the late 80's? 1966 - 1989 is a bit of a difference and I'm sure The Flintstones reruns weren't primtime by the time the Simpsons came along.

Yeah, but the impact is not the same. There was no cable in the `60s. Homes didn't have 3 or more TV sets. The Flintstones was a show kids and their parents could watch during dinner. It definitely left a lasting impression for that generation. It's like... kids still watch the Simpsons today but they weren't there when Bart Simpson was considered such a bad role model his t-shirts and merchandise were banned from schools. So, to us, the Simpsons means something completely different than today's generation.

I'm a big fan of watching these kind of shows and my favorite one is Family guy and love to watch very often.
