If I was going for 3D I would get Burton to do a Movie or 2 because he likes using it and is familure with the world of Batman.
Maybe with a Mustach Keaton could play Gordon in a new movie. Or least be a cop or something.

Dark Knight Rises
2nd Friday: $18 million
Total: $243 million

The Avengers
2nd Friday: $29.2 million

The Olympics may have stolen some of the audience.

I think TDKR was gonna run into one snag. TDKR is not as Family friendly as Avengers. Avengers had scary elements but nothing to TDKR. I think we need to except that Avengers is the Top Movie of 2012 while many assumed TDKR or The Hobbit may hold the title. The Hobbit can still make allot of money but I think it will cap out at 400 million Domestically and TDKR will end up somewhere in the 400's as well.

the dark knight is the greatest, joker is the best actor in that movie, not a supporting best

DARK KNIGHT RISES
2nd Saturday: $25 million
2nd Sunday: $21.1 million
TOTAL: $289 million

AVENGERS
2nd Saturday: $42.9 million
2nd Sunday: $30.9 million
TOTAL: $373 million

During week #1, Dark Knight Rises was selling nearly as many tickets as The Avengers. But now that we're in week #2, that no longer seems to be the case. Could it be a result of the Olympics, the mixed reviews, the Colorado shooting or all of the above? It's difficult to say. All we know is that the film is not the success everyone was expecting.

TDKR and Total Recall are neck-and-neck for #1 this weekend. And, TED, is out-grossing TDKR overseas.

The Olympics have done more damage than the Colorado shooting. NBC is getting record ratings. Truth is, when the economy is bad, people stay home and watch sports. Hence all these sporting events breaking records in recent years. I guess expecting 2012 to be a monster year was silly considering how expensive theaters are getting these days and people staying home more often. The Avengers has been the only standout hit this year. And will probably be the only one unless The Hobbit also does well.

The Dark Knight Rises has now beaten the foreign box office total of The Dark Knight. What's more, the film hasn't even opened yet in Italy or China. Once that happens, TDKR should easily surpass it's predecessor on the Worldwide Box Office list. It seems unlikely that it will be able to do so on the domestic list however, given the current rate of decline for ticket sales in the US.

Disney decided to reexpand their summer hit Marvel's The Avengers into 1,705 theaters, which allowed it to gross another $2.4 million over the weekend to bring its domestic take to $620 million. That added to its international take for the weekend was enough to put it over the $1.5 billion mark worldwide. The star-studded movie, directed by Joss Whedon, had already established itself as the third-highest grossing movie of all time, both domestically and globally, helping to get the summer of 2012 into the history books.

Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (Warner Bros.), the third chapter in his Batman trilogy, continues to hold strong, taking seventh place with another $7.9 million in its seventh weekend in theaters with a domestic total of $433 million. Like The Avengers, the conclusion of Nolan's magnum opus also marked a substantial milestone, crossing the billion mark worldwide with $1.005 billion, joining only 12 other movies to gross that amount as well as surpassing the worldwide gross of The Dark Knight, which ended its run with $1.003 billion worldwide.

Sony Pictures’ and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s Skyfall, the 23rd film in the James Bond series, opened overseas in 25 markets and grossed a staggering $77.7 million, #1 everywhere. Setting the pace was of course the UK, which opened to an enormous estimated $32.4 million (£20.1M). Smashing the all-time Saturday attendance record, this is the biggest opening of 2012 and the biggest 2D Friday-to-Sunday opening weekend in history there, and the 2nd biggest all-time Friday-to-Sunday opening weekend, behind just the 3D Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. This launch was 76% bigger than Daniel Craig’s first turn as 007, Casino Royale, and 30% bigger than Quantum Of Solace. Of the $77.7M on Skyfall, IMAX is estimating a weekend gross of $3.5M in 79 locations in 15 territories which include the UK, France, Russia, Korea, Bulgaria, Middle East, Kazakhstan and Brazil.

– France bowed with $9.1M, or 39% more than Casino Royale’s opening Friday to Sunday (beating the entire 5-day opening as well) and just 15% less than Quantum Of Solace (which opened during a holiday period.)

– Russia opened to $8.6M, way more than the previous movies especially with that territory’s massive theatre-building push.

– Korea took in 49% of the market, grossing $6.1M, which was more than triple Casino Royale’s opening and 58% more than Quantum Of Solace’s opening Friday-to-Sunday (22% more than Quantum’s entire 4-day opening).

– Brazil launched with a huge $6.5M, the biggest Bond bow ever there, beating Casino Royale’s opening by 130% and Quantum Of Solace’s by 37%.

– Belgium earned $1.4M, up 40% on Casino Royale’s first Friday to Sunday and 17% on Quantum Of Solace’s.

– Norway opened to $2.7M, capturing well over 65% of the entire market and besting the opening of Casino Royale by 52% and Quantum Of Solace by 15%.

– Sweden launched with a huge $2.6, the biggest opening of 2012, 27% bigger than the opening of Casino Royale, and just 4% less than Quantum Of Solace, which opened during a national holiday.

– Denmark also opened to $2.6, the biggest non-3D opening ever there, beating Casino Royale by 23% and Quantum Of Solace by 30%.

– Finland earned a huge $1.5M, the biggest opening in history there excluding previews, beating Casino Royale’s bow by 82% and Quantum Of Solace’s by 23%.

Other openings included Other openings included Poland $2.5M, the Czech Republic $835k, Hungary $425K, Romania $325K, Slovakia (310K, Bulgaria $175K, Iceland $155K, Israel $825K, Portugal $630K.

So unfair that the US has to wait for Skyfall. WTF is the studio thinking? Were they really that concerned about the release of Cloud Atlas as a competitor? There was clearly no need, seeing as it's bombing bigtime.
