i get the feeling it will be about drug trafficking , Luciano and Lansky were telling Rothstein about the money that was in selling narcotics, that could be an indication of where the show is headed

and for other gangster shows.....l i know its an obvious one, but the only that comes to mind is The Sopranos.

There's also The Wire -- gangster stuff happens, but it's way more of a socio-political study of Baltimore. It paints a much broader picture of what fuels crime and poverty (and, of course, the narcotics trade of your average American city), instead of just a "gangster people doing gangster ****" type of deal. And it's a much better show because of it -- might even be the greatest television drama of all-time.

The Wire is flawless, its an unreal show and has pretty much ruined TV for me because nothing comes close to how great The Wire is.

I'd imagine Capone would have had something to say about that.

Nice! We are getting into the drug stuff, I hope the show includes a Salazzo type character like from the Godfather film for a few episodes then he gets killed.

HBO is showing reruns of season 2. Hope we get Dutch Schultz in the future on the show.

I know, I'm catching up with a season 2 marathon. I'm on episode 7 already.

I can appreciate this show and I still watch it but it just doesn't grab me that much. There's just something missing.

Actually, I find the show's power in the form of marathon viewings. One episode a week ruins the experience for me, but now that I'm rewatching season 2 over again, I find that I'm able to enjoy the episodes more and pay attention to the story better.

Half of the people I know in NYC have been extras in this heh. I'll have to watch it eventually.

i still watch it for some reason, it is pretty predictable. minus the one assassination, which was awesome, but they balanced it out by adding another character, which is the wrong move, they need to start chopping it down more to core characters.

Who all here has got a gun? Do YOU have a gun? Do we all got guns?

I felt like Gyp was going to go door-to-door through Tabor Heights, waking people up asking each each of them whether they had a gun or not, that's how long that felt scene felt like.

Everybody's got a gun.

Love the way that guy said that, line-reading of the year.

Cannavale's underrated, but the best line-deliverer on the show is still Stuhlbarg as Rothstein.

I like Cannavale's portrayal so far, definitely entertaining, but I don't really buy the character as a whole. I find it hard to believe that someone who's that cartoonishly and juvenilely volatile would have risen to the position he's in without someone saying "He's too much trouble and too unpredictable, just cap him."

Agreed. Also: it's nice to see Bugsy make another appearance, and I think Mickey has become my new favorite character this side of Rothstein, Harrow and, of course, Mr. White. Becoming the most pitiful creature on Earth at the drop of a hat has never been that hilarious.

P.S. I guess this episode means that they're getting started on the Castellammarese War a little bit early (about 6-7 years). Where's Costello? Genovese? Gambino? I know this show likes to play it (really) fast & loose with history sometimes, but this deviation actually might end up being, really cool, especially if they're giving us Castellammarese this early. Or, they jump back to reality and we get Rothstein & Lansky going suit-shopping. Either way, it'll be classic.

loved that scene with van alden and the cop.

from last week though, how are they going to combine all the stories from chicago with the new york/new jersey angle?

I dono, but some of the stories are entertaining. I want more shown on the Capone feud with the flower shop owner and Nucky/Rosetti is gonna get even uglier. Also need more Richard Harrow/Chalky White on the show. Could careless about the hospital garbage.

I'm guessing Rothstein will be pissed about Nucky latest action on Rosetti. And lol in the previews with that guy looking like Jimmy Darmady.

I want Rosetti to make it out this season alive and get taken out by Nucky next season, so this can be a 2 season war.

I thought Rothstein told Nucky he did not want a war with Rosetti?
