Actually no, I did not - I learned geography in America. We were pretty much taught that there is America and America Jr to the north.

Best sequel news ever. Independence Day was easily of my favorite films growing up and it still is to this day!!

I hope it lives up the expectations but knowing Emmerich probably not.

Epic Space battle would be so much better for the sequels!!

The script is okay, but we can't make an okay sequel to 'Independence Day.'" This is what gave me a career. The fans deserve better than this. And I really decided then that I was never going to do a sequel. Until about a year and a half ago when Roland called me up and said, 'Let's try again.' So we went out to Palm Springs and we cracked it. We said, 'That's a real sequel. That's a sequel that makes sense to do. That's a sequel that won't disappoint the fans. That one feels like we always intended to do that in the first place.' So I want it to happen. I don't know if it will."

The original Independence Day, meanwhile, is slated for a 3D re-release on July 3, 2013.

This is the one movie that needed a sequel. Now is Roland going to do this movie because only he and Bay can devastation of ID4 can deliver. I am wondering if they will bring Will back.

They killed all the aliens and the blew up the big ass ship, it's over! Why does Hollywood want to make more of this when it was clearly a stand alone movie not a franchise?

And Pullman proably shouldn't be in any sequel now, his character can't be President and so what's the point? Is he just some random governor now hanging in Area 51? (I don't know what retired presidents get up to when not fighting Homer Simpson)

Pullman's character was completely generic. The only ones I care to see again are Goldblum's and Smith's, if neither end up doing it I'd be pretty pissed. Goldblum has been off the radar for a while now so I guess he'd be happy to return to the blockbuster scene...unless he's in self-imposed exile.
