It's shocking when people complaining about books and adaptation on film. They are 2 different medias of storytelling.
Unless you write a book that's exactly like a script your not going to get the best adaptation on film.

Clearly no one had more respect for Tolkien and Middle Earth then Jackson. The Tlkien family could have gotten far worse hands then his. Least he cares about what he is doing and respectful of the material.

They should make the 3rd film a spin-off about Tauriel, Evangeline Lily's character. That'd go down well.

"Hobbit" 48FPS Gets Only A Limited Run
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/246...-a-limited-run Peter Jackson's 48 frames-per-second experiment with "The Hobbit" is going to start out smaller than originally planned reports Variety. Warner Bros. Pictures are reportedly only going to be screening the high frame rate version of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" in select locations, perhaps not even in all major cities. The finished footage picture quality reportedly looks vastly better than the not well-received test footage shown in April at CinemaCon. Yet the studio is playing it smart, starting out with just a limited release for the HFR version in order to test audience enthusiasm and reaction to the presentation. Should it go well, expect the 48FPS versions of the subsequent sequels to expand much wider. As of now, there are still no theaters ready for HFR projection, though some require only a software upgrade that will be ready in September. One thing you won't see is 4K 3D 48FPS versions of the film as apparently no projection equipment can handle that much data at present. --------------------------------------------------- IMAX should utilize the 48FPS setting also this would look great on Blu-ray if the film is projected and filmed right...

I'm skeptical of the 48, but at the same time I want to see it. Doubt its coming to my theater however.

Honestly, I think the movies are great and probably the best adaptations we could have gotten, but there were still some things that I would have liked to have been done differently. But its not shocking to be complained about. In adaptations, we all have the source material available and therefore can see how things could have done better. |

I think movie wise for these films Having and Ent say the lines this book character says makes more since in Jacksons version of LOTR. It takes a shock to make Treebeard change his mind and really that whole story arc was leading up to the march of the ents which is everyone favorite Two Towers sequence.

The only chance we'll get it, is if our IMAX chooses to do so. While I'm curious to see it in the new format, I'll be sad if it turns out to be too disconcerting, wishing it was just in 24frames IMAX.

If the movie turns out to be good, I will probably end up watching it in each format at least once.

I was so looking forward to breaking through the £20-per-ticket barrier in order to see a higher frame rate!

This is really old news. I figured most theaters would just show regular 3D or have it on 2D SCreens. Lets face it they have to release this films and still make a profit.

So apparantly I have ran into Richard Armitage (‘Thorin Oakenshield’ from the upcoming “Hobbit” trilogy) twice now at my school. Once at coffee shop on campus and we laughed about how Amercians can't make a decent cup of Joe. And 2nd time in my class where he presented the film class with an in depth interview on being an actor.
Pretty nice guy... I'm excited to see how he does in Hobbit Here's an article of my school where he's been shooting a movie for the last month at my campus. http://oaklandpostonline.com/2012/08...s-over-campus/
