They need to do something like that episode "Fly" from season 3, except it's Walt/Mike/Jesse clumsily hitting each other while trying to dispose of a body or something. Imagine Mike shaking his fist and saying "why I oughta" or "you damn knuckleheads!" Greatest episode ever.

not liking the direction they are taking walt this season, i'm not sure he would be so... blind as to not see the forest for the trees.
but everything needs an ending.

I get what you mean. I think that maybe they're showing how arrogant Walt is now after beating cancer (for now), Fring, the DEA, not to mention all the other crazy stuff that's happened to Walt since his diagnosis. He's acting like he's untouchable, and it'll be his downfall. It's kind of unsettling to see how good he's become at manipulating every single person around him, too. Case-in-point: I thought the coolest part of last night's episode was the scene where Walt and Jesse were watching The Three Stooges, and Walt plants the idea in Jesse's head about breaking it off with Andrea, just to protect the business. And his slow stare at the kid he poisoned was incredibly creepy.

I think Walt's comment at the end about Victor and the box cutter shows that he isn't completely blind to the risks and his own arrogance. But yes, he seems to have broken further "bad" than I would have expected, but just think of all he's done in 4 seasons and the toll it has taken on him and it makes sense. Maybe the writing of him is just a bit too...obvious at the moment.

no, it doesn't really make any sense at all.
the start of the show walt turned 50 exactly, then earlier this season they show him spelling out '52' in bacon to himself presumably after all this stuff has gone down or whatever. so you're telling me, in a year, he has upped his personal worth in his mind, that 100k for a days worth of work is too small? a science teacher that up until a year ago (present time, since the next episode is titled "fifty-one", so it hasn't even been a year, in fact, how long was he employed by fring? how many payments of what was it, 600k did he get? how could he become so accustomed to it in such a short time?) color me worried about this being the last season.

A lot happens in a year. And major events can change people too.

Season 5.1 might not be epic, but Season 5.2 might be.

People can change in a year. Hell people can change in less time. It just takes momments or event sin life to change a person.
He goes from normal science teacher to a person dying of cancer, Decides to make drugs to support his family. gets into that world. Starts killing people. Gets a taste of what real money is like. battles cancer, and gets a repreive from it. Then a battle for his life agaisnt some drug overlord. Gets a taste of more power, then kills more people and gets more power. The simple truth power corrupts. its such a basic simply TRUE statement, that its easy to see him Start to look at things with too much arrgonance. its not exactly a new idea, or theme of movies/TV shows. I am intrigued to see what does cause the time jump to what makes him buy that gun, but I'm sure we wont find out for a while yet.

but they are saying he is stupid though. doesn't want to pay for the silence of the people that could sink him.
this is not like walt. at all. he is on the motorcycle and the shark is appearing. i'm just hoping he doesn't hit the jump.

Walt is not stupid, definitely, but Walt also has a tendency to let his pride and his arrogance get the better of him. Pride is what got him involved in the meth business in the first place -- you know, making a bunch of a money and leaving his family a decent nest egg to live off of when he croaked. Pride is what made him turn down money from Elliott and Gretchen. Pride and arrogance is also what compelled him to get Hank to keep pursuing Heisenberg -- he didn't want Hank thinking that Gale, someone who Walt views as intellectually inferior, was the infamous meth kingpin. Walt hates being viewed as inferior, which is one of the reasons why he went after Gus Fring (besides Gus threatening to kill his family). Someone like Walt would absolutely hate having to pay the former employees of the opponent he vanquished, especially when it took every last bit of his intelligence to pull it off. Just look at his attitude towards Mike this season. It's supposed to be a three-way partnership, but Walt's massive ego is going to destroy it.

was that an episode or a car commercial? seriously the first five minutes was laughably bad. dump the old car sponsor (albeit, somewhat softly) and then use dub step for a 3 minute commercial about mustang's srt line.
remember when i said they were lining up that jump over the shark? they have started the motorcycle... maybe they are using a mustang.

I agree, the cold opening was waaaaaay out of place, especially with the whole dubstep music in the background. It was horrible. But the rest of the episode was pretty good. I especially liked Walt's scenes here. He's really becoming the villain of the story now that Gus is gone.

Maybe they're helping to pay the bills, lol. I've seen plenty of shows do that before.

Other than that, I loved the episode and I'm still digging season 5 (so far). Nice to see the Heisenberg hat make an appearance, too. |

Stupid cold opening aside, I'm hoping for a full on Heisenberg return already.
