It's actually ranked in order of who has the most gold medals, so either GB or South Korea were 3rd at the close of play last night.

We've since won 2 gold medals and should pick up at least 2 more today, so we're in 3rd spot at the moment.

well thats why lithuania has had a couple bronze medals...

and ram, beating nigeria by that many was a big deal. it was done in such a short amount of possessions, coach k was trying to limit the scoring, he told them to shut down the fast break and stop going for steals. he sat lebron, melo had 30 some odd points in only 14 minutes. it was an impressive performance.

Nigeria wasn't aggressive enough on defense - USA had all kinds of open shot opportunities. Previous games never added up to that many open opportunities.

M Basketball sure had trouble with Lithuania today. To be honest I am a big fan of fair play and for some reason the M basketball players seem a bit cocky and I think in the future they should have a team yes but not made up of NBA players. I don't think players in the basketball should be pros. But good talents like many other Gold winning atheletes

Judo world champ 'tackled 100m bottle thrower'

A former judo world champion claimed Monday she tackled a man accused of hurling a bottle towards Usain Bolt and his rivals right at the start of the Olympic men's 100 metres final.

Dutch judoka Edith Bosch, who won the London 2012 under-70kg bronze medal, said a man in front of her became agitated and then threw the plastic bottle towards the sprinters.

The incident occurred Sunday as the starter called "set" for the 100m in a packed Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London.

The bottle landed behind the blocks in lane five, a few metres behind Bolt's fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake, and came to a halt just as the sprinters set off.

The green plastic bottle could clearly be seen on television pictures bouncing onto the track behind the sprinters.

Bosch said she was furious after seeing the man throw the bottle.

"The whole time this guy was shouting 'No Usain Bolt, no' and he was very disrespectful," the 32-year-old told Dutch public broadcaster NOS.

"He stood right in front of me and threw the bottle and I could not stop him. I thought 'what is this?'

"I got furious and gave him a hard slap on the back," said Bosch.

Security guards then dragged the man away and he was arrested by police.

Bosch said she was especially annoyed because it meant she missed seeing the race in which Bolt retained his 100m title in an Olympic record time.

Ashley Gill-Webb, 34, a vending machine technician from South Milford in northern England, appeared in custody at Stratford Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge of using threatening words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Gill-Webb was granted conditional bail and told he would face a half-day trial at London's Thames Magistrates' Court on September 3.

His bail conditions are that he must not not enter any Olympic venue, including the entire the Olympic Park, and must reside at his home address with the exception of the night before his trial.

London 2012 organisers said they were investigating what happened.

The chairman of the organising committee, Sebastian Coe, said it had been "poetic justice" that the bottle thrower happened to be sitting next to a judo player.

"Throwing a bottle onto the field of play is unacceptable. It is not just unacceptable at an Olympic Games, it is unacceptable in any sports venue," Coe said.

"The guy was removed and anybody that does that in future will be removed. There is zero tolerance to anything like that."

Dutch judoka Edith Bosch, who won the London 2012 under-70kg bronze medal, said a man in front of her became agitated and then threw the plastic bottle towards the sprinters. The incident occurred Sunday as the starter called "set" for the 100m in a packed Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London. The bottle landed behind the blocks in lane five, a few metres behind Bolt's fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake, and came to a halt just as the sprinters set off. The green plastic bottle could clearly be seen on television pictures bouncing onto the track behind the sprinters. Bosch said she was furious after seeing the man throw the bottle. "The whole time this guy was shouting 'No Usain Bolt, no' and he was very disrespectful," the 32-year-old told Dutch public broadcaster NOS. "He stood right in front of me and threw the bottle and I could not stop him. I thought 'what is this?' "I got furious and gave him a hard slap on the back," said Bosch. Security guards then dragged the man away and he was arrested by police. Bosch said she was especially annoyed because it meant she missed seeing the race in which Bolt retained his 100m title in an Olympic record time. Ashley Gill-Webb, 34, a vending machine technician from South Milford in northern England, appeared in custody at Stratford Magistrates' Court on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of using threatening words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Gill-Webb was granted conditional bail and told he would face a half-day trial at London's Thames Magistrates' Court on September 3. His bail conditions are that he must not not enter any Olympic venue, including the entire the Olympic Park, and must reside at his home address with the exception of the night before his trial. London 2012 organisers said they were investigating what happened. The chairman of the organising committee, Sebastian Coe, said it had been "poetic justice" that the bottle thrower happened to be sitting next to a judo player. "Throwing a bottle onto the field of play is unacceptable. It is not just unacceptable at an Olympic Games, it is unacceptable in any sports venue," Coe said. "The guy was removed and anybody that does that in future will be removed.
