I love the Dark Tower novels, but I still don't think these will ever be adapted to film/TV. In order to pull them off properly, you've gotta commit to either a 7-film series or a 6-7 season long HBO/Showtime series.

The first book is just a taster into the world. The next 3 books are far, far superior. 5 and 6 dip a but before picking up for the finale.

I'd rate them as:

Wizard and Glass #4
Wastelands #3
Drawing of the Three #2
Dark Tower #7
The Wind though the Keyhole #4.5
The Gunslinger #1
Wolves of the Calla #5
Songs of Sussanah #6 (would probably be higher if not for what's being discussed)

That's about how I'd rank them too, except I'd put Wastelands above Wizard and Glass. I was hooked right about the middle of The Drawing of the Three.

I'd recommend them, JBond.

I'll consider. Though right now I'm in an ebb in my reading habits.
