A Galaxy Not so Far Away!

Yeah no plot connection is definitely looking that way. I'm going to stick to it to the end... I'll post a review or something when I get done.

Halfway through Rendezvous with Rama. This book just keeps getting better and better.

40 pages left with Rendezvous with Rama. I do hope that there will be a satisfying ending to all of this, even if it is an ambiguous ending. I feel that that is the way the book will close out, which I don't necessarily mind. I don't mind being somewhat clueless about what Rama is if it means that I don't have to read its notoriously bad sequels.
I'm really loving this book. It's so weird.

Just finished Rendezvous with Rama. So I did not get any explanations as to what the hell Rama is. For some reason, I am OK with that. I think the point of the story isn't about the characters or Rama (although you can argue that Rama IS a character), but the journey of exploration and discovery. I still have no clue what the hell Rama is, but I am OK with the ambiguity. I'd like to hear theories, of course, and I don't want to settle for the theory in the book about Rama being a Space Ark.
What are your thoughts? Next book, I am probably going to read Fables Volume 16: Inherit the Wind. After which, I will probably move on to David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas. Wish me luck on that one.

I'd tell you my theory, but it's kind of more like fact since I've read the sequels. Sure, they weren't really written by Clarke, but he oversaw them so you could consider the answers in the last book to be canon.

That's your preference, personally I don't see how it could change anyone's perception about the book. It's not like it's a brilliant answer. Mostly it seems like they were sent out from a higher power to retrieve information about other races. They're spacious so races can come aboard and live with other ones, as they did in the 3 sequels.

I think I will stick with the explanation (or lack thereof) in the first book.

Just got done with the first two stories in Cloud Atlas. Well, to be more precise, the first two halves. So far, so good.

Just finished Mockingjay. Enjoyed the series as a whole but felt the end was very rushed, could have been fleshed out more.
Not sure what's next. |

Took me awhile, but I've finished Cloud Atlas last night. I wasn't as difficult a read as I thought it'd be. I actually really enjoyed the book as a whole. I can see why the stories are arranged in such an order, and the themes do come through quite clearly towards the end. I remember reading that someone here is having problems with the book so, here's an advice: It will all become clear after the sixth story wraps up. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
Moving on to Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.

Alright, I finished Washington: A Life a little ahead of schedule - I got bored once the team sports were decided at the Olympics.
Anyway, This book was very thorough and gave an interesting interpretation of our first President. As much as you can piece together events from letters and diaries and other ledgers, I think this author had a lot of access to that. Good book. Now, I guess I'll go from something very long (almost 42 hours) to something very short (about 3.5 hours) The Autobiography of Black Hawk - In his own words, the tale of someone on the receiving end (or is that the losing end?) of American expansionism.
