I was bored by it... in 2001. I remember it was the first time Richard Roeper and I agreed on something.

Watched The Two Towers (EE) tonight. I have about the same views on it. Also, Gimli's a lousy comic relief. Gollum and Wormtounge are still both awesome though.

How did Gollum live so long without the ring? He's 500 years old but he must have been without the ring for about 50 years.

Having the ring basically stops you from aging, so from the time Bilbo first took it away from him in The Hobbit until the LOTR he began to age from however old he was when he first acquired it. Which is why Bilbo himself didn't age until he passed it on to Frodo.

Though why he didn't look like Martin Freeman at the beginning of the trilogy will always be a mystery.

Okay, call me crazy but I have never found any of the original Star Wars movies anything special. I didn't even bothered with the prequels.

Call me crazy and I've said this many times but I'll chime in because we're on topic, but Two Towers is by far my favorite LOTR movie. It's more focused than the muddled, uneven ROTK and more exciting than FOTR. We see the Ents take down Isengard, the wolves of Isengard scene is pretty sweet, Gandalf the White kicks some Balroq butt and Helm's Deep is easily the best scene/event in the film trilogy.

It's probably my favorite as well, certainly my favorite book. Though I have another complaint, and that is the really cheap trick of putting Christopher Lee's voice over Gandalf the White when we first meet him so we don't know who he is yet. ...how is this OK? Like, at all?

For me it's a tie with Fellowship and Return of the King. They are more fantasy based. While Two Towers came off more like medieval story then a fantasy story

I wonder if Game of Thrones has changed my perception of Lord of the Rings. it occured to me that 8 of the 9 Fellowship memebers survive to the end and...that doesn't seem right.

I think that's why I liked it so much. I just find it much more exciting to see men battling men-sized orcs rather than 30 foot monsters and ghosts.

I enjoyed the LotR movies for what they were the first time I saw them but I've never been able to sit through them again. I'd give them 8, 8.5, 7.5 but I just have no interest in revisiting them.

Aside from 6 and 7-1 of the Harry Potter franchise I think they're all pretty mediocre. Loved the books but the movies are overrated.

Also not a fan of the Indiana Jones movies. First one is easily the best, they're all overrated, and the fourth one is laughable (I know thats not an outlier opinion).

The Two Towers has always been my favorite. I think my enjoyment for Two Towers was so great that it's probably what resulted in my disappointment in Return of the King. I thought the Two Towers' editing was also masterfully done, while the editing in ROTK was kind of sloppy.

I watched Return of the King. Man, what a joke that the invincible ghosts kill everyone. No one else even had to show up (and die) that day.

Also, Pippen screws up again and almost destroys the world.

It's the worst example of completely missing the tone and gravity of one of the best parts of the book.

The underground kingdom isn't encountered, the whole segment is filled with dread, the host of dead men are referred to as a terrifying shadow darker than the night as opposed to distant cousins of Slimer, there's no communication between them and Aragorn at all aside from a small line explaining his lineage, they arrive at the site of a meteor (I think) where Aragorn asks for their allegiance for breaking their oaths. Again, no response, their King simply breaks a staff in front of him. Actually that might happen after the fighting, I can't remember. Anyway, it's all quite solemn and doesn't really equate to the kiddy-friendly approach they were clearly going for. They never enter the city, they simply help to defeat the corsairs (pirates) by the river - I don't know if they even kill them, it's more the fear of the ghosts that drives them away - so that Aragorn and the Dunedain can use their boats to arrive at Minas Tirith quicker and gather troops from nearby towns and homesteads to help them.

The reveal in the movie is ridiculous, too, when they jump out of the ship. In the book it's this euphoric moment as Eomer stands on the battlefield thinking all hope is lost before realising the flags coming down the river bear the symbols of Isildur. I have a lot of the respect for the movies but when some of your favourite parts are either messed up or missing from an adaptation it's difficult to not be incensed.
