Since Geoff Johns is dominating in the comic book medium, and most of the new comic book movies are based off his approach in superheroes, they should take the SAME route with Batman, and adapt from Batman: Earth One. It just came out, about two weeks ago. I bought it, has to be one of the best Batman reads in some time.

Geoff Johns is overrated, I'm afraid. He's running DC Films and his first movie, Green Lantern, was a disaster. And with the exception of Man of Steel, a Chris Nolan production, DC Films has no movies in development whatsoever.

Geoff Johns aside, the situation at DC Entertainment and it's current impotence could be the result of any number of external forces. Is it the state of the economy? Could it be interference from their WB overlords? Are they waiting for the top talents they want to be fee of prior commitments?

Regardless of the cause, the continued languishing of DC's movie projects in Development Hell is a sad state of affairs. For a studio as large as WB to allow this to take place after more than ten years of comics being brought to the silver screen with great success by other studios is just pathetic. If I were one of their shareholders, I'd be suing for failure to followthrough with due diligence.

Haha. No. Definitely not. He's no Grant Morrison, and they peered so far away from his actual Green Lantern idea that you really can't say it's 'his vision'. But of course, you would be against that.

Earth One is still better than having 'Big Al'.

I'm excited for the rebooted film coming out in the summer of 2015. As a Batman film I do not want to wait 10 years for another film and I'm sure the general audience does not aswell. Just do not do another orgin story and just show flashbacks of Bruce Wayne parents death. But a actual comic book style Batman series would be a refreshing change from the realistic take Nolan had, so we can get the supernatural villians.

A Question is Alfred really old or is he like near 60. Because Caine and Gough seemed very old alfreds.
I'd be ok if in a new angle Alfred and Bruce father were friends and he is not like the Grand Pop role in every adaptation. Its just I don't see Alfred with a Buzz Cut.

Most continuities have Alfred in the British military, followed by a stint with the secret service in his younger days. Combine that with being old enough to serve as a butler at Wayne Manor when Bruce was a child, and his minimum age would be around sixty. Ultimately, it's up to the director when it comes to movie adaptations, of course.

Wasn't Gough towards then end and Caine in there what 80's.I always thought that Stamp would have been a cool Alfred but I would always expect him to tell Bruce he must neal before Alfred.

Exactly. The reason people took issue with Spider-Man had to do with the fact that they wasted half the movie on telling his origin yet again.

I'm fine with new visions of Batman being pumped out as long as they're good movies. Love the character.

You know what would be cool if done right... create a Batman TV series. You will always have some audience because its Batman unless the creators of the show destroy the character in some way. People still love gritty crime dramas and Batman would fit the bill perfectly. The only think I would recommend is to not have them do him from the beginning. No origin story.

There has almost perpetually been a Batman TV series since 1992 with only the slightest of pauses in between series, and occasionally some overlap.

That's the thing. Batman is a character well designed for a tv series. Him and Daredevil

Yes, but none of them have been live-action. In fact, the `60s Adam West show is the only Batman live-action TV program. Not counting Birds of Prey, of course. Compare that to Superman whose had FOUR live-action TV shows since the `50s.

There has always been Batman cartoons. Even before the FOX series. Hanna-Barbera and Filmation had their versions. So, to attempt a live-action series would be fascinating. Although, I don't think WB will try to do so while the movie franchise is still hot.

Why not do both a live action tv series and a live action movie series. The tv series could be on a network like AMC, replacing Breaking Bad when the series is over. There is more stories and character developments that can be done for a television series then movie series.

Time Warner is the parent company of WB, DC Comics, and HBO. So yes, it would naturally air there... or the CW. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be TNT instead.
