now that would be more interesting. i'm a big fan of the dream so i'm partial to that 96 team. him and shaq on the block would be something else. still see this years team winning though probably.

I wonder if the 92 team would have struggled with Brazil like 12 team did the other night. If not for Lebron they would have lost.

I understand players now are more advanced, but if we talking playing 1990s style basketball with the 96 team or 92 team(all in there prime and healthy), 08 and 12 team can put up a game, but dono if they would beat them. I mean the 90s squads played really physcial, something these guys today in the NBA do not like to play.

The 12 team would get smoked up the middle. One center is not enough to stop the players that the 92 team had.

And the 92 team would get smoked everywhere else. Once you get past the centers, Jordan, and Pippen, there isn't much defense on that team. Who is going to stop CP3, Deron, LeBron, Durant, Kobe, Westbrook, etc?
And saying you love the 90's era NBA isn't a defense for your argument. I prefer the 90's players too, doesn't mean I think they're better than today's players.

I have a better question who would win versus Jordans 97 Bulls or 2012 Heat. Because really that match up is what i think of as a more worthy Match Up.

The '97 Bulls? Don't get me wrong, the '97 Bulls were a great team, but the league was very diluted at that point. There's a reason Malone and Stockton were better in the early 90's than they were later on, but didn't make it to the Finals until the second half of the decade. There wasn't much competition.
But in a best of 7 series, it is really hard to go against Jordan and Scottie even though their careers were winding down.

Don't forget Rodmans rebounding talent. He was not a shooter but he was a great Ball getter. Him and Malone really had some battles.

The Bulls would win that easily, don't forget the coaching matchup either. Wade was basically a non-factor that couldn't create anything and got a lot of points through LeBron, you stick Pippen on LeBron and Jordan on Wade and that series goes 5 games even when Jordan is getting older. The league really wasn't any less competitive then than it is now, there were amazing players during Jordan's era, he was just so amazing he made it seem like there wasn't competition. The big men of that era CRUSH centers of today, Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, even Snack O'Meal were great, great centers. Howard is the ONLY elite center in the NBA, with Bynum at #2. Yes the game has changed towards less posting up and more run and gun, but you also have to remember that Kobe and LeBron are modeling their game from Jordan, whereas he established a game unlike any before him. Oh and another telling stat:
In the NBA Finals Jordan: 6-0 Kobe: 5-2 LeBron: 1-2 And Jordan beat Clyde Drexler, Gary Payton, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson (though he was getting up there in age) to do it. Kobe and Shaq in the early 2000s beat up on the Nets and Pacers when the Eastern Conference couldn't stand a chance against the West. |

Dwight Howard is awful. Just awful. This mess is way worse than The Decision.

Meh. Not a fan of this argument. I will pick the Dream Team anyday, regardless of the speed/athleticism that the '12 team has.

well that reasoning is just foolproof.
but yea dwight is a joke. and comparing brazil this year to brazil in 92 is laughable. six nba players are on this brazil team. how many pros did the entire dream team play against? thats right, we went through this, 3. total. sybonis, kukoc (who wasn't in the nba) and petrovic. spread over 2 teams. 3 players with nba talent. they were playing against fans, not basketball players.

^ Even if they were playing against other countires with NBA players they would still win the gold medal, they had the elite players of the NBA. The countires who have NBA players might have 1 superstar like Germany with Dirk and Spain with Tony Parker, other then that its role players. So really my friend its not different now, then it was back then. Even though countries have more NBA players, the USA Team still blows them out of the water, the games do not even be close.

spain with tony parker? spain is number 2 in the world, the gasol brothers and serge ibaka. and tony parker is french. spain usa should be a great game, because they do have some size. be cool to see the gasol brothers on the court at the same time.
and there is more than just 1 nba player on many of these rosters. again, 3 in 92. 3. 2 if you are trying to get technical.

If the New Dream Team Struggles would it be cursed by Kobe saying they would beat the dream team. You have to admit Kobe sounded a Bit like Vince Young and we remember how the Eagles played after that.

Not really I mean Howard is still having Back issues and lets face it Kobe and Nash are near retirement time. The Thunder I think can and Will still have that Conference. The Heat should be the champs again and I think that The Lakers will look older then The Celtics soon. Kobe's dream team talk is only Backed Up because Lebron, Durant and Carmelo came to play well.

Dwight Howard is a Laker. Andrew Bynum is a 76er. And what's a Blazers fan to do while the rich get incredibly richer? Half-heartedly cheer that our new head coach is Terry Stotts and that the next great hope for our franchise is Damian Lillard, a point-guard from Weber State. Rip City Madness Time.

hey guys,
this thread is to talk about potential trades and actual trades and more importantly trades that we fans would like to see and discuss if they are possible and if they are good for the team or not. i know the NBA is not super big here but i was hoping to scrounge up enough NBA fans to put on a productive thread. now i guess ill start this off, |

I am NOT looking forward to several months of "Will he resign?" drama next summer after we lose in the finals or conference finals. That will be unbearable, I'm going to have to not follow basketball for that duration.

I'm fairly confident that he will, I just don't want to go through the inevitable drama of it all. The Mavs and Hawks are going to make a huge push for him.
