Smile Christmas/Holiday Specials

It's that time of the year again. So, what are some of your favorite Christmas/Holiday TV specials?

Obviously, there's Charlie Brown and the Grinch but I've always been a big fan of the Hanna-Barbera ones. Yogi's First Christmas, in particular, is one I try not to miss every year. It's cool that HB made TV movies instead of the standard 30-minute special. Also, in the last few years I've come to enjoy American Dad's Christmas episodes. This year they had a good one with the Smith's in battle with Santa Claus and his elfs.

I like the Charlie Brown special and Mickey's Christmas Carol. I hate the Rankin/Bass specials though. There, I said it.

Both Charlie Brown and Mickey have already been on this year.

I loved that one as a kid - especially since I was a huge fan of Ducktales. But I re-watched it last year and it doesn't hold up. They condensed the story into 20 minutes. So, it felt very rushed.

Where I come from they are going to play all 3 Shreks in a row on Christmas morning starting at noon. And another station is going to be playing Transformers on Christmas or New Years. What happended to the real classics!

I've seen so many versions of A Christmas Carol and I always think, what is the point? The Muppets did it and nothing has topped their take on it yet!

Actually my favorite version of A Christmas Carol is the 1984 made for TV movie starring George C Scott as Scrooge, never really cared for the Muppet's, although I love the Christmas album w/ John Denver. If we're talking Animated favorites, Charlie Brown and Frosty the Snowman are mine.

I used to love the Muppet version as a kid, but now I think it's kind of stupid.

It must be a brittish thing, I don't think I've met a single person who doesn't love The Muppets Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.

I remember Sesame Street having a Christmas special we would always watch Christmas Eve, but it does seem to be around any more. The Count sang "All I want for Christmas" and the whole gang sang "Silver Bells" at some point. Every time I hear Silver Bells I think immediately of Sesame Street.
