Not to mention 1080 streaming that doesn't slow down or pixelate during fast-moving scenes.

Question for the Old-Timers. Who still has their VHS collection?

I have a bunch, mostly recorded off of TV. But I haven't watched one in years, nor have I had a VCR in years.

And I have plenty of VHS tapes from when I was younger, my family didn't get a DVD player until I was 15 and even then it was another 18 months or so until VHS really started to get phased out. I had a DVD player for quite a while when you could still get VHS tapes almost anywhere. I think the last new release I got on tape was Austin Powers 2.

Friends the complete series is coming out on Blu in November. Interesting....
I wonder what this will mean for other catalogue shows.

I still buy them. Usually buy a lot of old WWF tapes because I hate when WWE blurs out the old logo, so I buy the original broadcast.

I also get things that are either not on or are hard to find on DVD.

I can't imagine buying VHS now. I don't even like buying DVD anymore. I think since going Blu, I've bought maybe... two or three DVD's. I haven't bought a VHS tape in probably a decade, if not longer.

Eh, it's a 4:3 show. Not worth it.

So the widescreen airings aren't cropped? Weird...

Not that I really care about Friends, but was it actually filmed in 16x9 or did TNT broadcast it that way? Because I would assume that if it was filmed in 4x3 (as all shows were at that point), you'd see some goofy production things on the sides from time to time. For example, Buffy was shot in 4x3 but is 16x9 on Netflix and I always see things on the sides you're not meant to (occasionally a crew member or a character that was meant to be hiding ready to step into the frame, etc.).

Friends was filmed in 16:9, 35mm film, says wikipedia. I've watched it a bit on TBS and I haven't noticed mistakes yet.

I know exactly what you mean about weird things popping up. I went through Malcolm in the Middle on Netflix and although it was widescreen, not only did I see production equipment in shots, but sometimes there were stand-ins for actors. Malcolm was standing next to someone who was suppose to be Stewie, but it was a completely different actor. The same thing happened in a car. There were the two parents, two kids, and a complete stranger. It was pretty damn funny.

I would be buying stuff if September wasn't right around the corner - Indiana Jones, Hitchcock, The Avengers, The Game, etc.

^ Scratch that, I finally got a good price on the Batman: TAS complete series set. I don't like buying a DVD set, but it's probably not ever coming out on Blu-ray.

Trimmed the fat a little bit from my collection, down to 150 (Blu-ray's that is, still have countless DVD's). I have seven pre-orders right now so I figured I needed to cut down a little bit.
