all i remember was what he did right.

when he got to the school, i was constantly rolling my eyes at his white knight style introductions to women/girls and his teachers.

reading scalzi's old man's war, a pretty decent book... but some of his dialogue tries too hard to be funny. sometimes it just doesn't work.

Old Man's War was a let down after all I had heard about it. Yeah, I remember the jokes falling flat. Then again, old people aren't funny.

Well Panic in Level 4 was sure an eclectic set of essays - about some very bizarre things, some frightening, some boring - but I do like his writing style and he must live an interesting life exploring all these different scientific subjects.

Next is The Wind Through the Keyhole which I guess is book 4.5 in The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Let's see if I can get back into the writing style of that world again.

I've finished "A Dance with Dragons" (Book Five of the "Song of Ice and Fire" series) by George R. R. Martin.

Next I will be reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.

Just started reading Unholy Night by Seth Grahame-Smith. I am really enjoying what I have read so far.

I don't think I could ever read a 1200 page book for a second time.

It's really disturbing, and yet oddly, I don't know, "beautiful." He set out to capture the violent spirit at the heart of America, and he captured it perfectly.

Next one I'll read by him is Suttree, but probably not for awhile.

I'm about two-thirds of the way through it and it's not for me. There are some great parts, sure, but it's not very interesting. Maybe for someone who isn't already versed with post-apocalyptic fiction.

I kind of feel the same way but if I was going to, that would be the one. It took me 5 months to read all five of those books. Unless something happens where my free time goes to high school summer proportions I don't see myself dedicating the time to a re-read. Maybe in five years when the next book comes out...

The Wind Through the Keyhole Is a story within a story within the main story.
You learn a little more of Rowland's earlier life, and a bit of lore. It took a little bit for me to get back into Mid World but I enjoyed most of the book - The audio was narrated by King.

Next I found an interesting title on sale This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein by Kenneth Oppel
A prequel to Frankenstein. Sounded like good story to explore.
I like the cover

Weird! look at the book I just finished

I just noticed it

I've finished "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.

I will now be reading "Paladin of Souls" by Lois McMaster Bujold.

Finished Unholy Night.

Now I am moving to Les Miserables (unabridged). This is going to be a tough one.

That's what I've heard. I've read the abridged version twice, and think its time that I finally read what Hugo intended.

I put Hugo's three audio books in my wish list - sounded different
Les Miserables
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Ninety-three

Every now and again it's time to choose a classic

well, This Dark Endeavor wasn't as dark as I had hoped - it was ok, but I wasn't really thrilled with it.

Next I am listening to The White House Boys which is about a boys home (orphanage) with a rather cruel and frightening history of abusive behavior and secrets.

I've been wanting to take some initiative and read that one too. Such a daunting task though, you are a brave one lol

Just finished reading The Hunger Games trilogy. Might have been the last person on earth who hadn't read it so I figured I'd catch up.

I really enjoyed the first book, the second was still fun, but the third felt like a huge mess to me. I was pretty disappointed with that one. Overall, enjoyable and worth the read but I don't really see what the huge fuss was about. My reaction might be due to high expectations because of that hype though.

So far I have been enjoying it. I am about halfway through Book 2 (Cosette), and it is still holding up. There are some huge stretches where Hugo goes on about French history, etc. but I am finding that this is probably the most fleshed out book I have ever read. There have been some boring stretches, but overall I'm liking this version more than the abridged version.
