Yeah that would be cool.

In the second book I loved Jon's storyline. Hated it in the show other than the great scenery. They dropped the ball big time. My favorite moment in the series comes from Jon in book three, they better not screw it up.

Haha that's awesome. I hate that kid. Which means he plays his character perfectly!

You know, I would argue that the whole Robert's Rebellion thing is actually more cinematic/fit for a TV show than most of the actual plot of the books that we've seen so far.

It's actually kind of funny in retrospect that Martin constructed so many details about Robert's rebellion but never really told a straight story about it considering its really an awesome story. It has good characters and a logical beginning/middle/end. Especially considering that we basically need all the exposition about what happened in it in order to understand Book 1/Season 1, but if we started with Robert's rebellion the backstory before that is much, much simpler: all we really need to know is that there's a king who rules over 7 kingdoms (the latest in a family that's ruled over them for centuries) who is slowly going insane, and if we start with, say, the Tournament at Harrenhall we'd be introduced to all the characters in short time and things can proceed from there. And there's only like 9 major characters we need to worry about: Aerys, Rhaegar, Robert, Ned, Brandon, Rickard, Lyanna, Tywin, and Jaime. In retrospect that would have been an awesome book (and TV season) and then we could have time-jumped to 15 years later pretty easily.

It's especially ironic that (this is the vaguest of vague spoilers but I'll play it safe just in case)
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
after Book 3 the books really taper off in quality, especially overall plotwise as not much happens in them.

Also the stakes seem somewhat lower, the Lannisters are currently the "bad guys" as of the end of Season 1 and throughout Season 2 but despite how evil Joffrey is, the Starks taking them on doesn't quite have as much power as a group of rebels taking down a king who literally burns people alive and is part of a family that has been ruling for centuries.

I don't need a whole season or a spin-off, just one episode would be fine. They could use it to reveal some of the more interesting things about the sacking such as (big spoilers!) who opened the gate and why the king was really killed.

What do you mean by who opened the gate? The gates to kings landing that allowed Tywin to sack it? Aerys told his men to open it for him because he incorrectly thought Tywin was coming to help him an didn't realize the Lannisters joined the rebellion. And then once Tywin was inside he opened the gates for Ned's troops.

Just got done watching season 2.....man it was damn good, i think season 2 is a little better than Season 1(Season 1 was amazing so thats saying something).

I think the main issue i have with this show is how short the seasons are, there needs to be like 13 episodes or something, cuse it sucks how fast it goes by and how long we have to wait for another season!

As a really objective fan, I wouldn't say that Season 2 was better than Season 1. Some of its problems is beyond the writers' control, such as the length of the season. With more characters, more locations and more story, a ten-episode season simply wasn't enough. Any fan of the books will tell you that Season 2 felt more rushed than Season 1, and it could've benefitted more with an episode or two to really wrap things up. It was a wise choice to dedicate one episode to Blackwater (which might be arguably the best episode of the series so far), but that also took up a lot of precious time. However, did the writers make the best out of squeezing the book into ten episodes? Not really.

I'm not nit-picky with changes and additions for the most part. Some changes worked (Arya and Tywin) while others didn't (Jaime killing his cousin). The problem was that they didn't make the right call as to what made it into the season and what didn't. This resulted in more new scenes being inserted into the season when not all of them were necessary/good. This also took time away from the stories that truly mattered. Sure, they tried to beef up Daenerys' story line here (since not much happens to her in the book), but Jon Snow's story got dumbed down a lot. Giving Ygritte more screen time is one thing (good change), but shaving off screen time with Qhorin was an uneducated decision that still baffles me (bad change). So for every good change they made to the book, there's one other questionable change. Season 2 had a lot more of such instances, which makes it difficult for me to rate it higher than season 1. Another example of this would be Robb's story line. I liked that they decided to show Robb's story (good change), but why did they have to change Jeyne Westerling's character to this random woman called Talisa from, what, VALARIA? I don't see why a woman from Valaria would be working as some nurse out on the battlefield.

Season 2, however, wins with a lot more epic character moments. Big scenes like the wildfire explosion and the Whitewalker invasion, as well as the small scenes such as Tyrion and Cersei, as well as everything with Arya and Tywin. Season 2 took what worked in season 1 and amplified them (though not, in the mean time, losing some of what worked too).

Apparently they are going to start filming season 3 in two weeks. Shouldn't we be hearing casting news soon?

Talking

Just reading the post here.

I will just say that I do wish that they could somehow make each episode at last 1.5 or 2 hours long. That way would be able to get more of the books into ther series.

Right now I am reading Both Feast of Crows & Dance With Dragons at the sametime. I am loving FOC, that book has tons of back stories that explain alot.

I can never get enough ot Tyrion(sp) & Jon Snow, they are my fav. I am also liking the development of Brienne(sp) & jamie. I must say that Peter Stole this series ( Both An Emmy & Golden Globe, no one saw that coming) he is an amazing actor. Loved him in Death At A Funeral.

There is so much info & new people popping up( it is easy to get a little lost) I will admit that I did jump over some chapters in the books( Now, must go back & read them. this should keep me busy).

Not only, can't I wait until the next season but, the next book. Any word on when the next book is coming out.

All in all I love this series( however, ) there were some shows in season 2 that had ne zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
