Yeah, it's Fox's baby, they'll never give it away to some other network. FX is the best bet. And it's not like FX doesn't do action/gore/sex/blood, so...

FOX doesn't own Star Wars. LucasFilm does. Hence why Warner Bros and Turner Broadcasting have been the home to both Clone War shows. So, if we ever get a live-action Star Wars series, it's fair game.

In that quote he says that he hopes 9 year olds will still watch, just that it won't necessarily be geared towards them. So it's not going to be filled with a bunch of sex or other stuff that can't be shown on network tv, presumably it sounds like its just going to have more complex and darker storylines that are being geared towards adults.
Although who knows what Lucas and McCallum consider to be geared towards what demographic, they probably think that as long as they don't include a Jar Jar character thats literally aimed at toddlers it means that the show is aimed at adults no matter what the rest of the content is.
