1. Swan Song (5.22)

Supernatural was originally intended to be 5 seasons, according to series creator Eric Kripke. And if the series HAD ended with the Season 5 finale, Swan Song, then the show would've had one of the best series finales ever, in my opinion. Season 5 is all about the Winchesters stopping Lucifer (excellently played by Mark Pellegrino) from unleashing The Apocalypse upon the world. And that conflict finally comes to a head in this episode.

Like I just said, if Supernatural had ended with this episode, it would've been a completely satisfying ending. It provides definite closure to the storyline that had been building over the first 5 seasons and has that "epic feel" of a final chapter. All the central actors give compelling performances, especially Jared Padelecki, but I won't go too much into that so as not to spoil what happens in the episode. Also, the script is tightly written with not a single wasted minute in the entire thing. Plus, it contains the most moving and heartwrenching moment between Sam and Dean in the entire series. Just the simple line from Dean, "I'm not going to leave you!" during the episode's climax hits me like a ton of bricks, along with the following two minutes or so, every time. Great work, Eric Kripke. Great work.

Alright, Masterchief and I are about to get to work on our next combined-effort list, and it'll be...

Top 10 Michael Bay Cliches

For now, feel free to speculate. The list should be starting in the next few days.

The first thing that came to mind is the 360 shot. But I won't list any more and suck the fun out.

What about reused footage? Wasn't Bayformers 3 nothing but old Bay movies cut up with robots CGIed in?

I could've swore someone posted about 3 cloned scenes. I think one of them might've actually been in Bayformers 2 cloned from the 1st but that leaves another 2.

The 360 spin shot is my favorite Bay cliche.

Transformers 3 used footage from The Island. That's all I'm aware of - or at least all I remember.

Okay, I need to get back in the game.

Over the last few months, I've gone through and watched the complete series of Seinfeld on DVD, something I've never done before. I've just watched it in the mixed-up order on TBS all these years, mostly. Anyway, this gives way to my next, rather daunting list...

MY Top 10 Seinfeld Episodes

This will not be an easy task, since every episode has really strong qualities, but I'm going to think this through and make my best decisions.

Since I'm going to be out of town the next two days on family business, this list won't start at least until the weekend. But, if anybody wants to get in on this, it'll give you some time as well.

Just a quick update: I have most of my list made, but still have four slots to fill. So, I'll start either tomorrow night or Sunday.

My Top 10 Seinfeld Episodes

As I said, I've watched the entire series on DVD from beginning to end over the past few months after so many years of watching it in sporadic order on TBS. And doing so has increased my already high appreciation of this show, mainly because I saw how "the show about nothing" really DID have ongoing storylines that played out each season, and sometimes, across seasons. Anyway, here are the ten episodes I find to be the most entertaining.

Giddy up!

10. The Statue (2.06)

This episode, as the title suggests, centers around a statue that Jerry inherits from his grandfather. It reminds George of a similar statue that his parents had, but which he broke as a kid. Meanwhile, a man named Ray cleans Jerry's apartment for him, but afterward...the statue is gone and is thus "rediscovered" in Ray's apartment shortly thereafter. From here, Jerry and George become obsessed with getting the statue back. What makes this episode so good is how the whole story is handled. First, Ray is so hilariously over-the-top in the ways he tries to be friendly with people, and the ways he tries to skirt around Jerry and George's accusations are great. This leads into my next point...the scene where Jerry and George confront Ray. That whole scene is just so funny in how George tries to steer the conversation without seeming too obvious until he finally explodes in anger. And lastly, the way Kramer finally gets involved in the whole situation is just great. I would include a clip of this, but it would ruin the whole episode if you haven't seen it already.

9. The Parking Garage (3.06)

One of the most famous episodes of the series, and for good reason. Basically, the whole episode consists of Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer wandering around the parking garage of a mall after forgetting where they parked their car. This is a prime example of the "simple episodes" that Seinfeld did so well. You'd think such a story would get boring after 5 or 10 minutes, but then consider what show this is. Larry David, who wrote the episode, finds many great ways to keep the comedy fresh and flowing, and the many interactions that the group has with the various people walking through the garage highlight how this show made being an a*****e so funny.

8. The Trip (Parts 1 & 2) (4.01/4.02)

These episodes appear on the Season 4 DVD set as one, so I'm counting it as such.

Only a few episodes of Seinfeld take place away from the usual New York locations, and this is one of the best. After the Season 3 cliffhanger that saw Jerry and Kramer argue over the liberties Kramer takes with Jerry's spare keys, Kramer up and moves to L.A. to try and make it in Hollywood. A few months later, Jerry has a gig on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and he and George use this as an opportunity to also check up on Kramer. But during all this, Kramer is accused of being a serial killer. That right there gives the episode quite the high stakes, plus seeing Jerry and George interact with all of the L.A. stuff (mainly the cop car scene), is really funny. But also, George's backstage interactions with the guests on The Tonight Show are highlights, along with how those guests reay those experiences once they're out on stage. But I think another part of what makes this episode so good is that it solidifies the bond between Jerry and Kramer even more.

Oh come on, this is Seinfeld.

I love The Parking Garage, as well as most of the early, great "simple" episodes. (The box Kramer is carrying isn't empty. Method all the way.)
