Decent enough resume I guess. The first one was surprisingly good, it'll be interesting to see where they take the sequel and how they incorporate elements of the previous movies, if at all. |

I'm glad this is happening. As good as Rise was, it all seemed like a buildup to something bigger.

I'll go see it certainly. Rise was a fun movie. I knew going in that I was going to have to raise my suspension of disbelief meter way up, so I was able to enjoy the film for what it was. It will be interesting to see a new version of the Icarus crew return to Earth.
I suspect it will be handled very differently than it was in the original Planet of the Apes. In that film, nobody even bothered to question why the apes all spoke English. The Icarus wasn't a Mars mission, but a colony ship meant for another star system. How they managed to land right back where they started is never explained. The less said about how three men and one woman were supposed to establish a human society all on their own the better. My suspension of disbelief meter doesn't go that high, but I guess that sort of thing worked for people in 1968. |

These titles are so clunky. "Rise of the Apes" and "Dawn of the Apes" are fine titles and seperate themselves from the previous series.

Yeah, but you take out 'Planet' and it loses it's connection to the originals. It's what these execs count on, people making connections and wanting to see the newer versions to see how they are in comparison to the originals.

I'm looking forward to this one. The last one was surprisingly great and I'm a huge Apes fan in general.
I'm still amazed at how many people I've talked to that didn't understand humanity was going to die out from that sickness though. Was it too subtle? Do you guys have any similar experience?

I didn't know how they were going to kill off the humans before seeing the film, and questioned the 'realism' of smart apes being able to take out the most ruthless, dominating force on the planet, but once I saw the film I knew how it was going to play out. From the first guy getting sick I knew it was going to end up being the virus that killed humanity off. It just seemed like the most realistic thing to do, in order to allow another race climbing the ladder.

It's possible some didn't watch the credits.

While that may be the case, shouldn't they had still got the cause from the film itself?

Solid choice. I've enjoyed both of Reeves' films so far.
