Couldn't have summed them up better myself. Except that I think The Motion Picture IS a classic, and the new one is crap.

The new one will only be crap if the sequel is made to be a summer blockbuster. We get it the reboot was an intro to people who don't know star trek and also to introduce these characters before they became the characters we know to love.

But now let's make a star trek film with the amazing effects that has a good scifi story. Everything is riding on the sequel to where they take the new canon.

It's not gonna happen. Not with Kurtzman and Orci.

Because, while they may be good at writing exciting action sequences with clever dialogue and creating rebellious heroes that aren't afraid to risk it all to save the day (needed or not), they don't know how to write good scifi.

The directors are good at executing good action sequences into their stories.

Don't ever compliment those two again.

I decided to ignore that comment.

Back to star trek sequel... I still have hope... I know it's not much but it's the only thing we trekkies have left at this point... There's nothing else that is Star Trek anymore.... God I miss Roddenbery

Remastered "Trek: TNG" Hits Cinema Screens

CBS TV is bringing their beautifully remastered "Star Trek: The Next Generation" project to the big screen with a one-night only showing in the United States of first season episodes "Where No One Has Gone Before" and "Datalore" on July 23rd at 7:00pm.

The screening coincides with the release the next day of the Star Trek: The Next Generation Season One box set on Blu-ray, thus the screenings will also include exclusive looks at the massive restoration effort, never-before-seen interviews with the original cast members and behind-the-scenes featurettes about the artists who created the original FX elements and photography.

There will also be an "unseen sneak-peak" of one of the series' most acclaimed episodes - the second season courtroom drama "Measure of a Man". The full list of which cinemas will participate and where to get tickets can be found here.

Including a link in, or to, the original article probably would have been helpful.
