Not every scene has to move the plot. Sometimes it can add to the characters or something else. The only part of that scene that bothered me was when he pissed in the suit. When that happened, I thought it went a little too far in the silly department. But if you didn't get that party scene, you never had to keep someone drunk from driving or tried to break up a fight.

I certainly understand that not every scene in a film needs to move the plot, but in a movie where the plot was completely non-existent it makes you think of the useless scenes and time that could have gone to story development. The whole scene was just stupid, it wasn't even funny. Yes we get the point that Downey is a jerk, we know, we've seen the first movie. Why does there have to be a 10 minute scene of them doing nothing? This movie is just the case of having sequelitis, it tries to cram a bunch of ideas and characters in while praying the audience doesn't realize the film has no plot. Time spent on this annoying party scene could have gone towards a number of things: Depth to these new characters that we care next to nothing about because they aren't developed at all, more on Mickey Rourke's character who was a complete waste, put more relevancy to the Howard Stark plotline or just eliminate it altogether it just went nowehere, etc. My gripe with it is simply because it did nothing for the film, plotwise characterwise, whatever, it was just filler time in a movie that has no time for such scenes.

is about as poor of writing as it goes. Obvious cliched foreshadowing? Yawn. That was about as anticlimactic as it gets, especially considering the final fight for the short 3 minutes it was going on was a snoozer to begin with.

It was ok, I was expecting much better than the first one cause of War Machine, Black Widow, and Whiplash, but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Good movie overall, but could have been great.

In a nutshell, I had fun...but as much as I did with the first one. It tried too hard to be coooool. And I got really annoyed at the beginning with the actors CONSTANTLY talking over eachother. But action was fine, acting was fine, story was fine. But not great.

The filmmakers thought that by overlapping dialogues, it shows the actors' "chemistry" with one another. Mistake.

I had great expectation on this film before seeing it, because my friend told me it was way better than the first one. It dissapointed me a little, but I did like the process of suit improvement.

I think it was a pretty good flick. I gave the first Iron Man a 9/10 or a 9.5/10 when I saw it and I would give the followup a solid 8/10. A few gripes here and there, it was rushed for sure as most have mentioned and a few other nit picks but overall I had a great time.

This movie is a lot better than I remembered. In preparation for the Avengers, I wanna re-watch all these Marvel films. So, I randomly watched IM2 on Netflix, and was pleasantly surprised. Also, no one has mentioned that Roger Sterling plays Howard Stark. I shouted a big WTF when I saw that.

It has its flaws, but I find it highly entertaining. All the actors are great and they have amusing banter with each other.

I think the best joke out of any superhero Paramount Marvel movie has to be in this movie. Where the Tiny Hammer missile that War Machine uses and it fails against Whiplash.
I wonder in this or Avengers if we would ever see Ultron.

Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer is my favorite thing about this movie. I hope they bring him back for Iron Man 3.

Agreed, him and Rourkes scenes were the best, and him in general did a great job.

I heard the movie was bad which is why I didn't see it in theaters. I caught it on redbox a while back and it's certainly not a bad movie. What brought it down like I'm sure a lot of people mentioned was that it was less of an Iron Man movie and more of an Avengers setup. The second act was really uneven.

I've considered watching the other Marvel films I haven't seen to get the jump on Avengers before it comes out, but after thinking about it for a few seconds I doubt I'll be watching Avengers in theaters. Maybe I'll wait a few months and watch them all together.

The 2nd act with the Avengers set-up kinda bothered me when I originally saw it, but I really don't care anymore. Sam Jackson is just too cool as Nick Fury. AND it was an excuse to show Roger Sterling as Howard Stark. So...

Well Shield is kinda a part of Iron Man universe more then any other hero maybe more so then the others. Simply because Iron Mans father made Shield and i think Stark because head of Shield after Fury and Hill . I think he does comics wise.

I watched this last night (In preparation for The Avengers), and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I think we all just had too high of expectations when it came out in theaters.
