Yeah having the dead men go up each level of Minas Tirith was a bit much, as was the cheesy green way in which they were animated... That whole segment was terrible I thought, and one of the many reasons that the third movie is my least favourite. These spirits were meant to be terrifying, silent and dark shadows, not leftovers from The Frighteners.

Yes, they were only meant to help Aragorn and his men capture the boats by striking fear into the opponents. They aren't invincible warriors. If you paint them as such then the audience looks at sauron's army as being weak and wondering why they don't just send all these ghosts to mordor. problem solved.
As for the elves Vader, I understand that they have some unique abilities, but they are not superheroes. They can't send a whole army from lothlorien to helps deep without being noticed. Not an army. And I just don't buy Elrond traveling that whole way in that short amount of time. Not when we've just established for the last two movies how difficult it was for our characters to get there. You are completely negating their difficulties as well as the size and grandeur of middle earth by doing so. |

Well, I'm sure the Fellowship would've arrived sooner had they gone in a straight line instead of being sidetracked as much as they were.
Also, as far as "Superheros" keep in mind that Legolas was able to walk on top of snow while the rest of the Fellowship had to walk through it, so there is a certain "aura" of "Superhero" in Elves.

Have you read the book. For its how Tolkien discribed the elves and thats how they are in the movies. I think Pirates Of The Caribbean effected that whole undead army stuff if they made them look to real. Disney would scream they stole the look from Pirates. Though it was written in a book first many years ago.

No, I've never read the book. I'm making these insights despite not being familiar with the source material. My bad.

And your right, Disney is the only company that can make a legitimate looking undead army, I forgot they had the legal rights to that.

This talk has also reminded me of how the sons of Elrond and Halbarad/The Grey Company were completely left out yet Haldir gets to waltz in from a few hundred miles away and have this ridiculous slo-mo death scene, despite the fact that he'd had around 3 minutes screen-time previously so no-one really cared... |

As for this Bridging movie, I thought that idea was canned a long time ago! There's enough story out of the Silmarillion's Third Age chapter that can fill the gaps for the two films. With that I'm glad as Gandalf's disappearance would never have been explained (as was never even told in The Hobbit either).

Its a simple line used in the cartoon you could use without explanation. Bombour says in the Animated movie he comes and goes at will. He is a wizard you know. Bombour says it after Bilbo asks how he got ahead. So why not have this in the book. I think they can do 2 films without adding stuff. Just make things longer cause at times The Hobbit moves to quickly.
I have read The Hobbit and LOTR just not since 2003. So don't recall all things. In case somebody assumed i never read them. |

I hope when both halves are released on DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital Download that they are edited together as one movie. I wish they'd do the same with TLOTR. Imagine a 12 hour movie. Of course the endings and beginnings of the movies may need to be reworked/and or have additional scenes to flow better into each other, but I think a singular edit of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings would be really cool.

Peter Jackson will tell you why this is a 2 part movie.
Even though this video is from the summer of 2009, still very relevant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsNPBBoga3w |

I know it's probably healthier for Peter and all, but whatever happened to this guy?
