Either way, this is a pretty mysterious force, I don't think there was any good way of dealing with it, they were not in control of the situation.

yes, it is pretty mysterious. I still think they had some control. Maybe not enough to stop it. But things tended to get worse when they started doing the things they did. And that psychic said he was making things worse just by being there. So in a way, they were making the situation worse. How you explain it I don't know. But if they could make it worse, I guess it is possible to make it better? maybe not for sure, but their actions had consequences. They probably would have been better off had they never set up the camera.

From what it sounded like with the girl that the whole paranormal thing never got that out of hand untill micah deceded to make a big deal out of it

THe demon was feeding off the negative energy because micah kept wanting to film it and think of it was a farce but she was deeply scared and troubled thus leading them always aruging and what not so in a sense they were responble for it getting worst and worst

This movie was overhyped beyond belief. Now it wasn't bad, but it wasn't scary at all. The 4th Kind actually doesn a better job of scaring you.
