I'll give it a shot. Always have enjoyed the games since the very first one I played 20 or so years ago.

I must say this looks better then I first thought it would have. I love the fact that they didn't try to put realism in this that just would have made it not work.

Becuase it appears as though Disney is taking a product based off of hisorical legends, and redefining them for the age in a new, somewhat-cheesy adventure type serial series.

It's based on The Prince of Persia video games, one of the most historically inaccurate series in gaming. And imagine if Disney tried to ground it with realism - it certainly would have been cheaper - fans would complain it didn't stay true to the game. I've played all the PoP games in recent years, can say it looks pretty faithful to both the Sands of Time trilogy, and even the recent remake too (with the backflip). |

Well, I for one love the games. And in terms of art direction and the design of the props and costumes....spot on. Looks fantastic. Gemma Arterton doesn't look remotely Persian or Arabian (though she does remind me a bit of Rachel Weisz a la The Mummy) and neither does Gyllenhaal but I'm willing to trade that off for his star power and the fact that he's a pretty decent actor. The effects need clean up but they have great potential and there's plenty of time for that (and remember people despite watching it on hd computer and what not, they still don't hold a candel to the big screen).
Overall too soon to tell but I remain opptomistic. It does look like they are trying to create something in the vein of Pirates of the Carribean but if it works more power to them. Note about Arterton's voice over, often actor will record dialogue specifically for the trailers or they splice pieces of separate dialogue together so I wouldn't judge her solely on that.

I saw the trailer and suddenly this isn't just another crap movie coming out, it's now a must see for me. It will be easy for it to fail me but it looked damn cool.
I wasn't a huge fan of the games but they were cool concept. I think they were a bit a head of there time.
