Who cares about the 3D effect. Does it look nice yes but the story, characters, hell entire film isn't good on it's own merits. Then the film blows...

I liked it even if I didn't care for the effects.

Who was defending Polanski? I'm just saying he's still very much around and will be until he dies and is making good movies as well. I already said I think Zemeckis is a very talented director which is why I don't understand why he keeps making movies like this. Not only are none of his CGI endeavors critically successful (and really I don't care that Polar Express made money, no one publicly has gone nuts over his work either) but they aren't even original works. How many versions of Beowulf and a Christmas Carol have we already seen done many times before? This is from the man responsible for Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Forrest Gump. I think it's justified to expect more from Zemeckis than what we've gotten since Cast Away.

I agree with the above paragraph. Seeing Robert Zemeckis, the man who made me want to make movies, make things like this makes me sad inside.

Looks good, but I hope it won't win Oscars.

this was an amazing movie. one of the best adaptions of Charles Dickens' most beloved christmas tale. Jim Carrey was perfect as all three ghosts and scrooge.
Gary Oldman, being one of the most talented actors out there, was outstanding as both Cratchit and Narley. This was not only one of the most funniest of the adaptions, but one of the most terrifying ones as well. The visual effects was absolutely stunning in my opinion. Amazing directing, acting, and a truly faithful adaption to boot. A job well done.

10/10
