This got terrible reviews, looks like Kelly's hack status as a director continues.

I actually loved The Box, its' one of my favorite films of the year. I'm putting it on my Ten Best List.

I'm not one to really listen to critics. Matheson did write the story, so there's still hope.

And Philip K Dick wrote the story for Next.

I think there's an implication here about novel-to-film adaptations, but I must be missing what it is...

I don't hate him, I just don't understand why people get excited for movies made by him. Obviously he had one good idea and that's it, people anticipating another Donnie Darko are wasting their time.

I dont care what anyone says The Box was brilliant, I realized that on the second viewing. I didn't particularly like Southland Tales.. and Donnie Darko was good and ambitious.. but The Box is one of the best films of the year by far. I know so many people are going to ***** on this movie and the critical consensus hasn't been rousing, but I know what I saw... and after piecing it together I was fascinated. I think The Box won't be truly appreciated for years to come.

I wouldn't cal it "brilliant" by any measure. It was definitely well-written (plot wise) and built tension well, but all of the problems lie in the simple fact it was painfully miscast - both leads were horrible.

Also, it looked way too HD/digital - not a fan at all.

Both leads put in great performances, the only problem I had was the southern accents. As soon as Cameron Diaz opened her mouth I wanted to slug her. :p

Haha - well, we had something in common, at least.
