My Dad Almost Got Eaten by a Gator!! I became fascinated with gators when my Dad had an encounter with one. He had been fishing at a friend's nearby farm just outside of town and put his bass on a trot line and left them in the water to go check on the cows. When he returned, he saw what he thought was a log in the water. He pulled up his trot line and the bass were gone. About that time, the "log" lunged out of the water and went after my Dad. It was an extremely aggressive 12 foot alligator chasing him. He finally found a piece of pipe and was able to beat it back! When I came up with my idea for a thriller/horror movie, I realized gators could play a big part in the movie. I had great fun doing research for the script: I scouted gator nests from a helicopter, went to a gator hatchery, went gator hunting and even went to gator fest!
