i'm sure people have been banned, but its usually people who have just joined to be a pest, i can't really see a well known name with somethig like 1500 posts all of a sudden going bad

Probobly our most famous bannings were LOTR and Spidermanfan77. However for the most part it's just people who come on to be a pain or advertise.

LOTR was an under-age poster who had mostly three things in common.

1. Post stupid topics..
2. Post more stupid topics..
3. Post stupid topics about "From Hell" (Like 5, I think)

He mostly kept trying to become a moderator. The Horror Board was full of stupid posts from him. And he never had wit to stay alive on the boards. Eventually he went over the line by insulting Tyler Durdan with rather..explicit terms..He was notified and banned..

So that's what he did. He disappeared when I was away last year and I never found out the true extent of his crimes.

rogermiller was banned because he'd come in and post the same thread bashing Minority Report a dozen times across different forum rooms. They were all cut and paste rants with little or no fact base.

Immediately after rogermiller's demise, surprises turned up with the same MO, only toned downed a bit. He also branched out into other topics other than 'how Minority Report sucked'. Then he started posting ridiculous matchups in the 'Battle of the Worst Movies' thread. I don't think he was banned, but he eventually left because nobody loved him.

There was also someone called lilirogers who I still think was the same person.

Basicly he was spamming threads. The last few posts he was trying to reach 300 posts. In the WOYM thread he was posting his post count and Ty banned him right before he reached 300.

He had already been banned 3 or 4 times under different names.

Can you get banned for cursing too much? I know all words that aren't approved for TV are starred out automatically, but if you begin having more and more of your posts starred out, will you have to deal with any ramifications? It wouldn't make sense that you would, since no one's seeing what you're saying, but I don't know... Just a question about how it works around here. I try to curse as little as possible, so it's not really a problem for me, and I do it for others and for my own integrity. I don't want to be known as the most vulgar guy around... But I'm not ultra-conservative, either, so I'm just wondering what the right balance is, if any, since this is a public domain...

Sounds like the mods are pretty active in policing the place. That's good. I've seen places where things get out of control. It gets ugly, and that's never any fun.

The last place I posted at regularly was pretty much spam free. The mods didn't need to police too much because people were generally responsible. There were a few trolls, but the personality of the board took over and drove them away without Moderator intervention.

With the amount of members here, the mods have their work cut out for them. They have my sympathy. With more people, the number of trolls increases and they have a hard enough time let alone having to babysit some of the jerks.
