Since we already have best Bond film threads, I'll just put this one here and let it fend for itself...

I'd say pry A View to a Kill or Moonraker.

Jarbacca

i'd probably have to say A View To a Kill

because

-Moore was too old for the part
-The plot was a rip off of Goldfinger
-Stacy Sutton is the dumbest bond girl ever
-Mayday is the ugliest bond girl ever

I'd probably agree with A View to a Kill, although I DO enjoy watching every James Bond film including that one.

Moonraker had the most ridiculous story. However A View to a Kill was the worst. I mean any movie that has Tanya Roberts screaming..... "James dont leave me......" in that horrible whiney voice.

A View to a Kill is not only the worst Bond movie it is one of the worse movies ever made. Ed Wood must have wrote the part where Tanya Roberts doesn't notice that a blimp is passing over her head.

I would have to say either A View To A Kill, Moonraker, or Die Another Day. Both Moonraker and Die Another Day start alright, but then they become horrible. A View To A Kill is probably the worst, but there isn't a Bond movie I don't enjoy watching.

It's not so much Timothy Dalton as it is just the movies themselves. Though Timothy may take some of the blame.

I thought TLD and LTK had a very low budget cheap 80's action film feel to them. Both had poor villians and bad Bond woman. The look as if they could have been made for TV. They are the two Hardest Bond films for me to sit through. While AVTAK and DAF are both worse films they are easier to watch then the Dalton films. AVTAK because it's so bad it makes me laugh and DAF because Sean rules. But the Dalton films just drag for me.

None of the Dalton films did well in the US did it... about 30 or more million each. Way lower than the Moore Films. Plus I'm starting to think Dalton got fired instead of himself opting to leave. I can't even remember a movie he's been in after Bond.

Me... myself, I think Dalton is one of the best Bonds. He is much more down-to-earth and harder, like a real MI6 agent would be. Not many corney jokes and if he has one it is usually made as one that is obviously so. License To Kill is one of my favorite bond films.

But the worst, since that is the purpose of this thread, are A View To A Kill and Die Another Day. Both were just pathetic.

The absurd, poorly executed action scenes in the 2nd half of DAD ruined a good start. Madonna's participation was ill conceived too - she's ancient. I don't care if she married a Brit. Let her join the cast of Ab Fab.

Back to the thread, I vote for A View To A Kill.

Bigee04

Not even C. Walk can save it. He is very good as the villain, but the movie as a whole just doesn't live up to the other ones.

Kevin Roegele
03-13-2003, 06:06 PM
A View to a Kill is ridiculous from the get-go because Roger Moore is blatantly too old and not doing any of his stunts. He's obviously too old to even run.

AVTAK could have been cool if Timothy Dalton had been in it. Dalton versus Walken would have been electric.

I sort of know what you mean. Licence to Kill looks like a TV action movie because a) it's got a cast of TV quality actors, b) it's about men in suits and drugs in Florida, very, very 80's TV, and c) it's shot in a very flat, non-cinematic way. However, there is a lot of stuff which is pure cinema spectacle, like the climactic tanker chase.

TLD also has some of these TV trappings, but generally it's got the grandness of an old-style Bond movie. Both Dalton movies are among my favourites, though.

A+

It's quite blatantly the most recent one. It's so poor I've forgotten its name, didn't deserve to be called a Bond film.

DangerMouse

Gotta agree with A+.

Die Another Day is by far the worst Bond Film.

Why on earth the writers thought they had to compete with that complete P.O.S. XXX is beyond me. They sacrificed plot and story for explosions and "extreme" stunts.

i have to say OCTOPUSSY. this is the most boring film i have ever tried to watch. i can enjoy any bond film but this one...the only thing it has going for it is the mini-jet opening. when james bond is dressed as a damn circus clown you know something is wrong.

MOONRAKER is not far behind. i liked the dalton films. very hardcore and LICENSE TO KILL is one of my favorites. but its hard to beat GOLDENEYE, ON HER MAJESTYS SECRET SERVICE, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and GOLDFINGER.

all the other bonds are good fun.

agreed

AVTAK is almost the exact same story as Goldfinger (think about it, you'll come up with tons of similarities)

it also had a terrible and annoying bong girl

and Moore's age was just to far distracting

another thing that bugs me, is the paris car chase, in almost every shot you can see the stunt man's face(and he looks nothing like moore) - just terrible

Died Another Day, The World Is Not Enough, In Her Majesty's Service.

In the Pierce Brosnan movies except Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldeneye, they lost the action and went for love and betrayal. The movies are like, no I love you, but you betrayed me, and I love this other girl. Such crap. We need less love and more guns and fighting.

06-19-2003, 06:49 PM
Brosnan's movies, except for Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies, are crap. All they do is moan and groan about his lover deceiving and betraying him and then runs off with another girl. They're all like, oh, boohoo. You wanted the money all along. I feel so betrayed. I cry about the way Bond films have turned out.

O.K., first off, except for Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies, that's half of Brosnan's stint as Bond right there. So, for the other two movies he's in, The World is Not Enough, Bond doesn't blink an eye when Elektra betrayes him. When he lets the bomb in the pipe go off, he simply says to Christmas Jones "I did kill us, she thinks she's gotten away with it" and later Bond kills Elektra, a helpless, unarmed woman. Now, I have only seen this movie eleven times, but I have yet to see the "boohooing". As for Die Another Day, he barely gets to know that Miranda Frost is the one who's betrayed him, he thinks its just some random person from the west for the longest time. He finds out that its her, and then is on the run for the rest of the time until the  spectacular surfing scene, and, as Bond said, he sleeps with Frost simply for the hell of it, to "keep up the appearance" that they're together. So perhaps next time take a bit of a closer look before "crying about the way the Bond films have turned out"

Moonraker probably. bit of a mess from the start really. they changed the plot so Bond went into space purely because of Star Wars, and it didn't work at all...

My pick for worst film.. A View To A Kill... If they wanted to send moore out with a bang, I think he should have quit at For Your Eyes Only, that way, he left with a great film, and still looked young enough to play bond. Hell, I would even take Octopussy as Moores last, but by AVTK, he was as old as a mummy, horribly story, ugly lookin bond chick in may day, dumb bond girl in tana roberts charcter, add it all up and u got one big F%$#ing mess.
