It looks really cool but then again there's gonna be picky people who compare it to the Matrix, hell even the TV commercial said something about the Matrix.

I'm hoping it's action packed like The Transporter was.

I haven't seen the trailer or preview, but this movie made it to my want-to-see list as it seems to be an adaptation of Farenheit 451. Don't know about the Matrix connection, and couldn't care less.

You knwo how long I've been anticipateing this movie?? You could probably go back in the archives and find this topicup a year ago. They've been postponing this flick forever now, that's never a good sign....

Still, I am curious. It'd be cool if it was, well, cool.....

SCREW THE CRITICS on this movie cause it's one of those you GOTTA SEE FOR YOURSELF!

I saw it last night and Man! IT'S FREAKING AWSOME!

If you're an action fan you will LOVE THIS MOVIE and it also has a cool story that you can enjoy and not hate.

They use a form of gun fighting called GUN-KATA. it's pretty much martial arts fighting but instead of using your hands and feet you use GUNS. I can't really explain it well enough you gotta see it for yourself.

2 thumbs up
5 stars
A+
Top 5 movies of the year IMO.

:D  :alien: :applaud: :D  :alien: :applaud:

GO SEE THIS MOVIE it'll be the best $6,7,8,9 or $10 dollars you've spent in awhile.

I saw it today...It was good but could have been better. The actions sequences were pretty good to great(the Gun -Kata was great),but the story needed to be developed a little more...

Also, when I came out of the theater, some guys were saying it was better than The Matrix, but I firmly disagree. So whatever you do,don't go into the film with those types of expectations.

that guy has issues if he thinks it was better then the matrix. it was great but it didn't have enough of action to compare to the matrix. Plus like you said the story isn't in a league with the matrix. although it wasn't that bad of a story.

bottom line i enjoyed it and can't wait to see it tonight again. :D

This is my favorite movie of the year, but it is difficult to compare to the Matrix. I would say I enjoyed both of the movies the same.

i compare it to the matrix in terms of GOOD ACTION SEQUENCE and LOTS OF IT. :D

I still think Matrix is way better but only cause the story was deeper and there was lots of DIFFERENT kinds of cool action sequence.

but YES Equilibrium is the BEST ACTION MOVIE THIS YEAR!

I just saw Equilibrium again, and I have to say it is probably my favorite movie ever. There are scenes in Equilibrium that the Matrix cannot touch. I have faith in the directors of the Matrix sequels, but it will be difficult for them to match this one.

OK hands down, Equilibrium is one of the best action movies EVER. Forget all this Matrix comparison junk, it definately holds its own and has some scenes that are even better than the Matrix as someone stated above. This movie is top notch and features a good cast and a good storyline. As I said in the post about it over in the 'now playing' forum, Dimension has screwed themselves over for not advertising this movie more and releasing it on a wider level. And it did REALLY REALLY poorly in theaters, REALLY badly. Which is a damn shame! All the studio's fault. Christian Bale is one helluva action star in this movie!

Now I'm just pissed b/c we probably won't see any features on the DVD unless by some miracle this movie gets plugged by word-of-mouth and people go out and rush to see it and it earns a lot of money a la "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"... Just such a shame that this happened to a really good movie.

Enjoyed Equilibrium more than the Matrix (which I thought was great). The plot isn't as solid as Matrix but most of that could have been fixed if there was a bigger bugget. Preston is a more intriguing character than Neo.

Actionwise, it almost like comparing apples and oranges; depends on how you like your action. Matrix had a smooth, poetic style while Equilibrium was viceral and harsh. I've gotta give it to Equilibrium this time, thou. While Matrix did bring a new look to an old technique (slow motion), it didn't bring anything new to the style. On the other hand, Equilbrium brought a whole new style to the game, something's that part John Woo, part anime. It's been a long while since someone brought something new to the table so I've gotta give props to Equilibrium for a job well done.

Similar to Matrix, I'm dreading the rip-offs that will follow Equilbrium.

This movie is far better than Matrix, and I love Matrix.

I think the reason critics didn't like it may be because they are hung up with Matrix. Beside most of the movie critics are really old and I assuming most of them don't like the concept.

Does anyone know if this'll get an Australia release (even if only straight to video)??? I haven't seen it listed on any upcoming cinema releases and it's been out since 2002.

It was out on DVD in US only recently, so you should ask your video store. The movie is really really underrated so it might be hard for you to find it in Australia, but who know.

I'd love to see it in the cinema as well, and I'd also love to get my hands on an offical score CD. I've managed to d/load bits and pieces of a very unofficial 2cd set that's floating around, but I hope it gets a proper release.

Even a direct to video release in Australia would be fine.

ya where can i buy the cd what made the movie good was the awesome music it had!!

Omega Supreme

That's what I'm saying - there is no officially released score. There's a 2disc pirate that's floating around, but I think those copies are well dodgy. I'd never buy a CD if it wasn't official.

No wonder why the music was great, it was done by Klaus Badelt. He did a lot of good music, from Gladiator to POTC.

Omega Supreme
08-04-2003, 02:21 AM
Exactly why I hope they release an official score for it. Klaus Badelt is my favourite composer (Hans Zimmer is a very close second)

It'd be a shame to not release such an awesome score.

Have you heard some of his other work KayTang???? The Recruit is another awesome score of his that's similar in style to the Equilibrium stuff (few more electronics beats though) and POTC totally floored me when I got my copy last week. Amazing!!

KayTang999

Yep, I just saw The Recruit a while back and of course the music was great.

Totally agree, it is a shame that they didn't release the soundtrack. But you know, movie itself only got 300 screens when it first out.

There was a lot of aspects that made the movie reminescent of the book "Brave New World"... maybe it's just me

BTW- I give the movie 5 out of 5 stars.
