Since there have been more general discussions about the MCU (marvel Cinematic Universe) in threads where they dont necessary belong I thought its a good idea to create a thread where the MCU as a whole can be discussed.

The MCU consists of the Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk and Avengers films as well as upcoming films about entirely new characters such as Ant-Man or Dr.Strange.

Popular characters Spider-Man and the X-Men (including Wolverine) as well as Daredevil and the Fantastic Four are not part of the MCU since the rights lie with other studios such as Sony and Fox.

Besides the movies certain comic books (like the Captain America prelude, Black Widow strikes or the 8 part-series Furys Big Week) are also part of the MCU as well as two short films starring Phil Coulson that were included on the Blu rays of Thor and Captain America.

MCU films so far:

2008: IRON MAN, THE INCREDIBLE HULK

2010: IRON MAN 2

2011: THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

2012: THE AVENGERS

Upcoming (officially announced) MCU-films are:

2013: IRON MAN 3, THOR 2

2014: CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

Avengers 2 is rumored to be out in 2015 or 2016. Other rumored films are SHIELD, Ant-Man, Dr.Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy and another Hulk film but nothing has been announced officially yet in terms of release date.

It has on here that May 16th 2014 other then Captain America there is an untitled Marvel Project. Do you have any idea what this could be. I'd say its likely a Shield or an Aka Nick Fury movie. Because I doubt they would do TIH or any major character 2 weeks after The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Marvel studios doesnt really care what Sony is doing with Spider-Man. however Captain America 2 is out April 2014 and I doubt that Marvel Studios is releasing another film only 4 weeks later. Where exactly did you read the May 16th release? Feige said they will most likely release new films every 6 months or so. Cap 2 is in April 2014 so the next one shouldnt be out before September or October 2014.

Maybe its outdated information. Maybe this was before the release date of Cap 2 was announced.

Hm..then maybe its an animated film or a direct to DVD film. Marvel Studios wants to produce direct to DVD films about the lesser known heroes that wouldnt do well in cinema. They will cost also a lot less (around 20-30 million). Probably something like that. I still say that Marvel will never ever release a new film in theaters only 6 weeks after Cap 2 started.

Why couldn't they put Shield here or maybe there is something else thats marvel but different from the others. They would not have this possible date without a project in mind. Comingsoon is pretty up to date and would have gotten rid of it if was a red herring.

Maybe you should read again what I wrote in my last post. This release date could be one of Marvel Studios planned "cheap" direct to DVD films about a character that is not big enough for cinema.

Also how many times do you want me to repeat this? Marvel will NOT release a new movie 6 weeks after a major film has been released. NO studio does something like that. And Kevin Feige himself said they will release theatrical films every 6 months or so. How much more facts do you need ? This conversation is taking a silly turn. I will not continue it. I have said all there is to say about it. If you still dont get it then thats your problem. Moving on.

Not to add more fuel to this conversation, but I highly doubt that a straight to DVD movie would be announced this far ahead of time. That being said, there is still a possibility that it is a placeholder and the movie will actually come out later (the same goes for Cap 2 for that matter).

Also, keep in mind that Cap and Thor were only about 10 weeks apart, so it wouldn't be unprecedented

yeah but 10 weeks is almost twice as long as 6 weeks. And why would Feige say they will release new films every 5 or 6 months if they would release one 6 weeks after Cap 2 ? Makes no sense.
